Fingers crossed for the three Halifax U20's lads Brad Hill, Callum Dunne & Jake Smith ( son No. 2 ) in hopefully getting selected to play in the England colleges v Scotland in the curtain-raiser to the Rochdale Hornets v Oldham game at Spotland.
The whole of the colleges international is being shown live with a 4.30 K.O. prior to the usual Championship 7.30 broadcast.

The lads go into camp tomorrow lunchtime in preparation & as far as I'm aware they won't know the team selections until the day of the game.

From memory, Tracy Lazenby's lad played in the trial match & a couple of the Lancashire lads had dads or elder siblings who'd made a name in the pro game.

Yes well done, Callum scored two fine follow up try's and as far as I can re collect played the first half but did not appear for the second.
Jake Smith came on in the first half and played all the second. Some fine touch kicking from him and some sound defending. well done to the whole squad, all 30 odd of them.
Final score, those good clean English lads 54 those swarthy woad painted lads from Scotland 6.


Ps What fine comics these Lancashire folk are, the car park bloke said it was £3 to park but as I was from Yorkshire it would be £5 and the turnstile bloke said it was £13 but as I was from Halifax he should charge me double, but the biggest comedian of them all was the bar lass, £3.50 for a pint of Kingstone Press, watch out Peter Kay.

I really enjoyed it, pity I couldn't make the 20's, didn't get out of Spotland until 6 25, turned the wrong way and got back on the main Halifax road about 6.40, still plenty of time, but, do you know, as I was approaching the White House at the top of the hill, the car swerved left, and pulled into the car park and then as if by magic next thing I know I'm at the bar.
Spooky or what.
