| Must admit i think going back to 1-13 isnt working, might be saving a few quid but the lads vary in size and shape and it just doesnt look good when people are wearing shirts with no numbers, hopefully this experiment or cost cutting excercise will not last beyond the season.
Im struggling to know who's who and so are the tv pundits, bring back squad numbers.

| the no1 shirt wont fit ryan fieldhouse its fine for paul white ,going back to 1 -13 means u realy need 2 or 3 shirts of each number and clubs cant be spending that sort of money on them, for me squad numbers is the way to go and the cheaper way to go,

| Ashall started versus Myton in the number nine shirt and had to change into a blank, as did Sam Barlow who's number 10 shirt was ripped.
No kit supplier at our level is going to give you four different sizes of each number.
This is nothing new - when Frank Watene came here in 2007 neither 8 or 10 would fit him so there were games when he started wearing 17.
And when Adam Hughes played in the second team he had to wear 13 despite playing in the centre as neither 3 or 4 would fit him.
You may have noticed that versus Myton that Lee Paterson wore two and Wayne Reittie wore number four although they did not actually play in the positions traditionnally assigned to those numbers.

YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.: |

Didn`t the Clubs decide to do it this way or am I mistaken? I thought they were given the choice collectivly and the majority went with this. I know I have noticed it on another team that came to the Shay as well .

| I don't know why they dont make it optional for teams to have squad numbers as it was in the Footballl League for a number of years before all teams started doing it.

| Its crazy not having the squad numbers !!!
Its like Sean states some shirts are not interchangable between players, Not all Fullbacks are the same size and neither are all hookers, props etc ....
The players play in shirts that are skin tight I have penkys 2009 shirt and Ben Blacks 2010 at Home and they are both labelled as XL Boys !!!!
Also the supporters prefer squad numbers as the players are more easily identified - its just another crazy idea ......

Might just help the commentary team at Premier Sports - even skin colour doesn't stop them getting it hopelessly incorrect!

| Johnny Freeman Fan Club is correct (as usual?). The majority of the Championship Clubs favoured a return to 1-13 numbers, so that was reflected in the Operational Rules for 2012.
Halifax didn't favour the change because, as Piston Broke observes, it is totally impractical. Each playing shirt costs £45 to the Club, and short of buying 4 complete sets of each colour, it isn't possible to guarantee that every player picked in a particular position can have a numbered shirt matching that position. However, it's reasonable to assume that the next replacement black shirt will be a number 1 in Ryan's size.

| Try educating a young child in how to play like a professional player on tv plays that given role.
"hey young 'un, watch how number 27 packs down at loose forward when we have the ball but how he defends at right centre when the other team have the ball at a scrum"
It's all bu££, the game has gone mad.
