| In the paper KH says the following:-
“As far as the wingers go though, Wayne’s cemented his spot, which leaves Rob and Whitey going for the last one.”
I have seen all of the pre-season games so far. Have I been watching the wrong team? Haven't seen anything from Rettie that would make him the first winger on the team sheet.

| he was alot better than both white and worrincy in the games against keighley and salford..solid in defence, didnt drop a ball, gave good go-forward.
hence why karl didnt pick him vs giants,
to see if worrincy and white fancied fighting for thier places.
thats why hes in the team. he deserves it.
white will struggle to get in this year if Rob and rettie keep performing.
and to say whitey was our top try scorer from last yr. it shows our strength in the 3/4's this year, Patto and nanyn to come back too!!! things look good.

| I know it seems impossible to think that White and Worrincy would be driven out of their positions, but Rettie definitely deserves his spot against Dewsbury. He was a safe pair of hands and did some solid running against Leigh, got us out of a few problems as well.

| Read it too and was a little surprised but i trust Karl knows what hes doing and i think its highly likely we will get more injuries this season so a little competition for places early doors should keep everyone on their toes. Rob definitely needs to make the bread and butter RL stuff more consistent, we all know hes strong and can run the length of the field, Whitey just needs to keep his defensive effort up, its all good, the pressures on Rettie now.
Cant wait to see a pack with James, Barlow, Azuie and morrison though, then Handforth whisking the ball out to the big centres Nanyn and Tyrer, cant see many sides coping too well with that coming at them for a set of 6.
In Karl i trust, when everyones fit were gonna be in a good place.

Being a winger isn't always about scoring tries though. I think Rettie is a far better all-round player than Worrincy (Rob, not Mike!).

| Coming from a Batley fan, who is trying to remain totally unbiased ; Reittie isn't a patch on either Worrincy OR White.

| Maybe that was the purpose of signing Rettie. Maybe KH was given the heads up that Rob needs a kick up the jacksie from time to time. He'll play better with a bit of competition and knowing that he will be dropped if need be.

i agree, until the hudds game he was poor.
the way i see it it was a shootout between Rob and White against Hudds for a place vs Rams.
Worrincy scored four and was awesome.
barely remember seeing White.
Rob plays.

| I heard its White instead of Worrincy for the Dewsbury game. Fact is Rettie has played well in every game he has played and Worrincy has started the season in lacklustre fashion and his moaning and whinging on Twitter probably isnt helping his cause. He needs to keep his head down and work on his game. He could do a job for a team in SL with a bit of improvement but at the moment hes a million miles away. This from a massive Worrincy fan as well.

| I've not seen any moaning from any players. Only self motivation and apologies/acceptance of having a poor game. It seems Callands open style of play suited and exploited the strengths of the wingmen more hence each racking up 25 tries last season, whereas KH is more of a through the middle n kick deep tactician which doesn't so much result in tries for the wide men (look at Rettie - his clear favourite - stuck in single figures last season). So the change of tactics and overhaul of team mates could have played a part in some unsteady starts to the season! I completely agree though that Rettie has been extremely solid and you know what you'll get. A strong carry drawing in a few men followed by a half decent attempt at a quick play of the ball.

| It's not too long since that Whitey was criticised on here at full back & I asked the difference between catching a ball at FB to catching a ball on the wing. This is the sort of pressures Rhino & the players need. I just hope the pack can hold out and be strong until we get some more competition for places all over the park, we can't afford a slow start, anyone going to Dewsbury with a feint heart, don't bother 'cos Jowitt is a beast & he won't wear soft forwards in his team.
Let's have it.
