Basically the RFL have put pressure on the club to issue a statement to this effect.

Maybe, but do we really think we can make the RFL change their minds.

We are working within a set of agreed guidelines and, as much as I hate the whole franchising idea, I can't see it changing. The RFL have committed to one Championship club obtaining a licence for 2015, efforts would be better spent ensuring that club is us.

Except its not just about us its about every team in the Championship/Championship 1 they are far more issues than us missing out on promotion anyway as I see it the RFL have made our club put up this statement because our directors where happy for us to be doing it on Monday. Yeah was just reading your other thread. I totally agree, it seems the RFL already know how we feel (and couldn't care less) I don't think a protest would achieve a great deal. It just looks as though the club has rolled over (or forced?) and it's frustrating to see.

But.

What is the ultimate objective of spirit of 1895?

Will the movement only be happy with the overthrow of the governing body, a return to p&r, a better share of the sponsorship money etc.

Well perhaps you should have come to the meeting. The objective is for transparency and a just and fair governing body recognising the Championship clubs of BOTH divisions. Our leagues are the forgotten leagues of rugby!! Our aim us to ask many questions on behalf of all member clubs

Chris. I couldn't make the meeting (just out of hospital) and I have already said that I applaud what you and others are trying to do, I just personally can't see it getting anywhere.

I know your commitment to a cause can never be questioned, your previous hard work shows this, but I just feel that we should focus on where we want to be in 4 seasons time.

I wish you every success in getting the RFL to be more transparent in the future.

Problem is we now have to tick the box to be able to apply again.

Leigh have already done so and they have as strong a bid as we do.

the squad we have we all know is good enough to win silverwear but how long will this squad stick together, I'd rather win this seasons grand final so we dont have to worry about whether we can keep the better players for next season

Well thanks for that Directors , for a start it`s a new group that was formed to support the Club when they felt hard done by the RFL and if Mr Abbott didn`t want any of the fans to protest he should have made this clear when the meeting was arranged over a week ago.
I like many others have been puting my good money into doing all the fundraising for the Faxbuilder this year well that`s it for me now I am seriously considering not renewing my season ticket . They are a bunch of spineless idiots.

Cassandra. I too committed my money to the faxbuilder and I have fulfilled my personal commitment, and more.

I just don't get this "spineless" comment. What would you have the clubs directors do?

I will not be driven away by the inadequacies of the system and the ruling body. I will continue to give my support to my club.

I would still say support your club, the Club still needs us fans otherwise it will totally die, at the moment we have a club that is among the best in the league we play in, as we need to make sure it stays that way.

Hopefully the club will make annoucements very soon, with regards to next year and beyond.
