Quote Greg Florimos Boots="Greg Florimos Boots"Thought we could have another thread to discuss the game as the other one is a slanging match.
I thought we did ok in the first half but defensive lapses cost us again. Twice we got penalised carrying the ball which is always a strange thing but Penky was still silly to get himself sin binned after the hooter had gone. I thought we did really well to get ourselves back in to the game in the second half but that only seemed to be a signal for players to start running round like headless chickes and the mistakes and ill discipline that has plagued us all season crept back in and well and truly knacked any chance we had of winning the game. I think we did show that maybe we can give Fev a game in the semi and given a few more 50/50`s than today you never know.
Of the players i thought Danny Jones had a good game and took his try brilliantly. Worrincy and White were on the whole pretty good apart from a couple of mistakes that they seem to have in their games. Beswick used to be one of our best tacklers but of late he is a bit of a liability although i thought he had a better second half apart from 1 needless penalty he gave away before the game had gone from us. Black looks to be carrying injuries and playing behind our pack probably dosnt help things. I thought all our props went well with Aizue the pick again. Thought Banister had a better game and the rest of the forwards its hard to say because you just dont know they are playing. I also wish Barlow would run the ball in properly occasionally although ive heard he is great at the Party Rock Anthem, he showed so much promise last season and i really thought he could make SL after this year but seems to be treading water a bit and needs to up his game to what we know it can be.'"
I thought the first half was a bit error strewn, with our players just looking for penalties, with Penky complaining to the referee on ever single tackle (never going to get in his good books doing that). Although I thought the sin-bin was a bit strange, as he can ask questions as captain (was he captain?).
The second half was brighter for me, showing some better defence. I agree with you about Barlow who is not really showing what he showed at the end of last season. Aizuie was definately the pick of the forwards, especially running downhill and I too thought Worrincy and White were good, with the exception of Whites foot in touch (again.... ).
I thought overall it was a better showing than of late and plenty for Calland and Noble to work with, starting as soon as they can, with Sheffield on the horizon..... We need to start getting some wins from somewhere, the bottom of the league is far, far too close...
