"There are indeed some radical changes in there but I have no doubt that these proposals will allow the RFL to maximise the return on its investment and improve the stability of clubs by encouraging stronger business management"
No doubt that the RFL will give less and want more back !!. Its all well and good maximising profit but share the wealth!.
I can see how they have managed to maximise there return on the investment with Crusaders and Quins.
Encourage stronger business management, Hardly when they allow the apparent Elite clubs to go into administration, Wakefield, Crusaders etc and still no punitive action, Dont worry about your creditors, just go bust and we'll let you back in time and time again.
I cant beleive they have the audasity to come out with that statement.

| How exactly does this help the championship clubs? And what future do the rest face from Championship 1 when playing amateurs like Coventry Bears etc? And what are the minimum standards as for Example top Clubs like Oldham have a very small ground, Swinton are nomadic.
It would be great to have the two English Grand Finalists from the Championship play against the French Elite 1 top 2 with the winners getting a game against the Australian Champs as a warm up for the WCC. There has to be some incentives for championship clubs because at the moment it doesnt matter how many times you win a Grand Final it all seems to be about who can get a sugar daddy. Bring back P & R with minimum standards from SL down to amateur level.

| more games will help with more money coming in, but they missed the point of promotion and relegation even if only every three years.

| With respect Swinton, Oldham or a cumbrian team have next to no support. So smaller crowds than what we average now. It is maybe a small improvement moneywise or maybe not depending on if its a Cumbrian team and the costs involved.
The RFL have just ignored the whole problem with Pro Rugby League and think expanding the Championship and pushing down the salary cap so smaller clubs can try and compete is the answer.
Bring back P & R for one thing. Get rid of the Rail Cup as it is-serves no purpose. Maybe the winners of the Championship GF get to play the winners of the French Elite 1 with venue alternating between France and England each year. Maybe a Championship Manager should be appointed to help clubs search for sponsors, overcome various problems, help market the Comp with the clubs and get clubs working more together on Special Tickets-Season Ticket Holders from clubs get a special deal at away games or something. Lets have some proper thoughts and changes instead of cosmetic bollox!

Correct , the S caps are fine as they are
Correct again . although it should be several managers regionally based with a ' worker ' at each club , all funded directly from the RFL , we need bodies through the gates , all other considerations are secondary , including player development

| The RFL say that, although central funding will continue, under the new proposals the size of hand-outs will be more performance-related to factors such as a club's contribution to the sport and its business management.
Let me guess who wrote this???
A clue he was once a man of finance, that must be Mr Wood's plan then surely?
What will 'performance realted factors be I wonder?? This man cannot stick to his own rules on SL Licences never mind something like this, I can see it now 'hello Nigel just letting you know Halifax have earned the most out of the pay outs again this year sir, what do you want us to do? Mr Wood 'Leave that with me I will sort them, er sorry, this issue out, it will be different next year don't you worry they won't be getting that much ever again'.
I fear for the Championship 1 clubs, my God there will be teams with NO fans and you even may get relegated, where to oblivion???
One day that man will be gone, I just cannot wait for that day but on the money he is on it may be a long wait, how will they get rid of him he seems to have total control?
I will still be here though and will celebrate big style when he does go.

I have been questioning this ' Central funding will go to clubs that contribute to the sport the most ' clause , just like the ' subjective judgements ' we see in the licence decisions , will there be similar ' subjective ' anomolies in funding

Exactly, the rules according to Mr Wood which gives him total control.
Scary. Is he of Russian blood by any chance???

Funny, this is the same argument that people have been using to justify a franchised Superleague. "What? You expect teams to be relegated into THAT league? They'll be playing teams with barely any fans and the same teams will be going up and down every year like a yo-yo and going bust in the process."
Incidentally I don't support relegation from Championship 1, but there are teams below that level ready to make the step up IMO. Hemel have just been granted planning permission for a new 500 seated stand, Bramley should be ready, and as for the no fans argument, South Wales Scorpions went from being non existent to having crowds of around 600 in the space of months.

The question is though . will they have more than 600 in 1/2/3 years time ?
