He only went up a couple of times a week if you believe what some people said,

and on the same note, some people believe he'll be at Fev next season anyway, so he'll be able to go down to training on a BMX

Is said to also have signed a new contract at Barrow along with Catic.
However this ban shall certainly restrict his involvement in training, unless he finds a way of living closer.

Apparently, he was living in Barrow most of the week during th2 2010 season. I don't know what he'll do now, but Fletcher and James live in his neck of the woods so cadging a lift shouldn't be any real problem.

I was at the final and was talking to a barrow fan. He told me that one of his friends was a director there and that rooney was on big bucks around 60k per year and catic on around 35k. Apparently lot of brown envelopes being passed. Would make sense if rooney staying up in barrow and letting house which would cost no doubt around 7k per year in rent.

The 'brown paper envelope' suggestion is perhaps libellous and there have been some ridiculous speculations as to Jamie's package for playing up there.
"Private arrangements" if they ever existed are always likely to be that, private, and as such are non-auditable anyway.
However, 60k for a player in our league not on a loan deal??? Never in this world.

As has been said, £60,000 for any part-time player in the Championship is plainly out of the question.

Also, if it was just a case of slipping brown envelopes to players, why has Andy Bracek left Craven Park ? He wanted more money than was in his contract offer. Surely Des would have just slipped him an envelope to keep him.

Regarding "Brown Envelopes". Would not be surprised by Barrow or any other club doing it. If I was a Chairman and it meant keeping/signing an extra matchwinner I would seriously look at doing it. How is the RFL going to check it? Its one reason I do not agree with a closed salary cap as it is as there are so many ways it can be broken. Is it cheating? Yes. But Morals in society went out the window years ago.

Let's keep talk of illegal payments out of this, please. None of you know whether it's true or not, and such talk can be libelous.

Thing is LBC, you can do it legit!!
Take for instance a purely hypothetical scenario! Fev sign a cracking centre wanting 30k full time contract! Fev agree a deal of 15k - the other 15k is paid by a community trust. Legal, legit and within the RFL's rules and only 15k is counted within the cap! Cap circumvented, tax paid in full! No illegalities. Sorted.

Now I'm not saying Dez did or didn't have 'private arrangement's' with any player. But there are ways to get around it legit that negates the need for a visit to WH smiths for A4 envelopes unless the intention is to avoid troubling those splendid chaps at HMR&C!

and of course, I'm not for one minute suggesting that is the case!!!!!

Some people on here would have you believe he is on more. So a Champ 1 team player is on more money combined than the cureent England half backs combined? I really doubt it.Some people would be surprised how averagely RL players are paid.
