| OK, so now the dust is beginning to settle on the season after sunday's great occasion.
I reckon there were well over the quoted 3,000 'Fax fans at sunday's final, the stadium is going to be in SL shape soon, the "box" has been ticked reaching the final, what more can be done to increase or average attendances and getting the none-regular fans down to the Shay ???
I know from my contact with the club and it's officials that things are going in the right direction off the field, and on the field the improvements are there for all to see, everyone are giving it rock on with the destination SL, the players & coaching staff have earned their corn over the last couple of seasons, but the crowds need to improve for us to sustain signings capable of competing in SL if it happens in my humble opinion.
We read that Widnes are off-loading some salaries of their bigger earning players for next season, but I'm not sure if that's correct that I'd want our club to do that, surely if we continue to entertain by playing exciting rugby that's the business model that will draw in new support and greater sponsorship.

The less teams getting to the GF's and winning the NRC the better !
Fax & Barrow need to keep strong squads to compete at the top on regular basis and keep Widnes from the honours. Fair enough they have ticked the box with the NRC win but im sure the RFL would look far more favourably on a team that ticks it every season.

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |

| That would be the year after. NRC and GF count next year, its the year after that they won't be in time. So 2011 GF and NRC count towards qualification for 2015, if licensing still exists then of course. Could effectively be a closed shop after 2012. The end of RL as we know it. After all the SL clubs are not going to vote out one of their own are they?

| I agree, the crowds do need to increase. Getting to the final was the start, i did see many old shirts/ merchandise on display at the game. Lets hope they come back, buy a season ticket or just attend games next season, maybe even buy some upto date merchandise.
It was good that all 13 coaches had season ticket/cash fax flyers to hand out to their passengers, i only found 2 that were thrown away on my coach, so thats potentially 45+ people who now know all about things.
We as supporters can do our bit, it maybe the off season but wear your shirt out and about, take some flyers down your local, put a poster up at work. Every little helps to spread the word.
For the club, i dont know if you do it already but have closer links with the amatuer clubs in Halifax, send some player/coaches to their junior training evenings to help with the session. Give them flyers for season ticket etc... Maybe invite them to the Shay, when completed to look around. I know our problem is proparbly time and money.
I feel that a sleeping giant is just waking from its slumber, it just needs a little help to wake up fully!!!!!

Don't kid your self.
The sigh of relief, when Widnes ticked the box, could be heard in Halifax.
They've done it now and that's all that mattered to the RFL and to be fair, I think Widnes deserve it. I just hope Fax can catch them up by decision day.

I think Widnes will go up before decision day for that reason. How close was it earlier this season?

Well only 2850 tickets were allocated to Halifax RLFC. So it goes to show our fans were seeking out extra tickets. As the stadium only holds 12075 people. Of which 8900 were allocated directly to the four main clubs involved. It only leaves less then 3200 tickets left for general sale. As every championship club were awarded tickets. Some of those will have gone. Then any sponsorship tickets awarded by the RFL. The number that you could actually take is limited. So to take more then your allocation is improssive.

I am pretty sure there were more than 3000, more like 4,000 from halifax and to be fair Barrow.
Its harder for the second qualifying club to sell as many imo as you have just a week to do it.
Good support, come on we were hardly ripping up trees on the field the last 6 weeks were we???
More will come if we keep a winning team and with the new stand next season.

| Was disapointing with all this in mind that we actually lost.
Theres a few clubs ahead of us in my opinion, not only do we need to win something now, but we need 2500-3000 average attendance and a couple of big home gates i.e. 4-5000 for the Widnes games and challenge cup.
The Club need to work on getting new people into the ground now, cheap season tickets wont be the answer, they need more offers on a weekly basis and should let pensioners and kids in for free when the new stand gets opened. Were gonna have to win something, there could be a number of clubs with boxes ticked, we need to be dominant and have the argument that we deserve to be there on merit, not ticks.
