I know we are all gutted at missing out on top spot this season - but what were everybodies expectations this year?

If somone had asked me at the start of the season what my hopes and expectations were, I would have said to finish either 3rd or 4th, behind Widnes, Barrow and perhaps Featherstone, and hopefully reach the NRC final.

Looking back, the boys have played some of the most exciting rugby league seen in this division, been a gnats wotsit of getting to the NRC final and pushed a solid Sooper League side all the way in the chalenge cup.

We are now perhaps 1 game away from a Grand final, albeit a tough away encounter at Barrow.

We know everybody connected with the club is disappointed not to finish top, but I for one would rather the team have a dip in form when it did, rather than in the playoffs. We are going to Barrow with some momentum, and I think it is a very winnable game. Lets get up there in numbers and make our voices heard, get behind the lads and roar them to Warrington!!

I agree with your sentiments, inoffski. This season has probably been the most entertaining since '98. About 3 years ago my patience had reached breaking point ... I didn't enjoy watching Halifax and I was on the brink of not re-newing my season ticket. But I've loved the past couple of seasons, and I actually look forward to matchday again! My mood nowadays seems to mirror the teams performances .... and today I have a smile on my face, see:



We have a fantastic chance of winning the GF ... and in doing so, it would be a fantastic shot in the arm for the club, the town will sit up and take notice, and hopefully some of the "lost" fans will return next season.

Top 4 was what I expected as we had a small squad and Barrow and Widnes have far more money to spend/waste on players. I expected this league to be tough and for me its not just the way fax have played that has made it such a great year but the fact you have no idea often who will win any game. I am proud of what the players have so far done -but there is so much more to come and they know that!

The only real negative is Doncaster and the way the RFL have made a right mess of this League with certain teams being treated to the rest and the silly bonus point system-Sheffield have lost 9 games could easily have finished in 2nd whilst 3 teams could have finished below them despite losing only 7 games. Thankfully fax won but I do not think Haven and Fev can go above Sheffield despite losing less games!

Coming into the season i thought we were in a bunch of thre/four clubs that were vying for second place behind Widnes. Widnes really did under perform in the early stages in the season and that changed my expectations.

However, am i sad that we finished second. Absolutely not. We have two direct chances to get to the grand final. The teams below us only get one chance. We need to grasp it and finish the season off in style.

Come on fax, lets win this thing!

At the start of the season I wanted a top 2 finish as thought Widnes would win it... Then when you saw Barrow start throwing the money around signing all these players I was hopefull of top 3 so to finish second has been a good year in my opinoin..


When was the last time we finished second in any league???

didnt we finish 2nd from bottom in 2004 - 05!

The season doesn't even start until next thursday. The last 20 games are no more than pre season.
