Widdop, the son of former Park Amateurs player Gary, has been part of the Storm's Toyota Cup under 20 set up for the last two seasons but has now signed a contract to join Craig Bellamy's first grade squad alongside superstar Australia representatives Billy Slater, Cameron Smith and Greg Inglis.
Widdop, a King Cross junior who was nurtured by Fax's original scholarship programme run by current Shay assistant coach Martin Gonzalez, has also been named on the bench in this year's Toyota Cup dream team alongside the best young talent in Australia.
Former Leeds back rower Gareth Ellis, now with Wests Tigers, is currently the only Englishman turning out in first grade football Down Under.'"
