I posted this on the bottom of another thread but decided it was probably be a new discussion...what do people think? I know a lot of fans got involved in the past when we did this.


Another thought, has anybody thought about putting money into a pot for the players for if we win the grand final? Obviously we don't have a sugar daddy and it would be a nice thing for fans to do.

I seem to remember this happening a few years ago, I think it might have been our relegation season, or first season in national league. Basically I think the pot of money was then bet on us winning the gf or not getting relegated (i can't rmemeber the exact scenario) and then would have been split between the players. It might be another way to give the team a boost....anyway just a thought!

At the moment, I would quite happily give up a tenner to beat the Eagles!

Well thats a start! But seriously I think this is something we could all do, can anyone remember how these donations were made last time!?

lets get to the grand final first, we all know what happens when we start getting ahead of ourselves, ie Northern rail, country mile etc

I'm against it . The club usually tells the players some if not most of the winners money is shared amongst the players. That should be enough IMO.

It doesn't make sense to wait until you get to the grand final as you need time to collect it beforehand....well thats what happened in the past and then place the bet...obviously if we don't win then the money is lost but i'm not saying we will be there, its meant as an incentive to get there and then win.


If the money received from winning the GF is split between the players then maybe thats fair enough...although is that always the case? As it may not be so with Halifax.

I just think anything we can do to help why not? I remember last time the idea started just from people saying they were betting and if they won they would donate the money to the club

As already mentioned I'm not trying to make an assumption that we will get there. But these things take a while to set up, i believe last time somebody set up a bank account etc. The idea would be to bet the money earlier as well as the odds would mean if we did win the players owuld get more each
