i was just wondering; worrency, watene etc are employed by the club partly as players and part community representatives

does the latter function fall under the 'playing' cap?

in other words, would the club be able to entice new players with good contracts, but ensuring they did community work on thew side, in order to remain under the cap?

or is it just an overall wage cap that covers operation staff too?

Well it's a new concept and something that's never been considered before, but it just might work.

I wonder if any of the players partners might want to work at the club?

Here is the rule that covers Community Development in RFL Operational Rules

6.6 Dual Roles
6.6.1 Where an employee of the club is employed in a capacity other than as a player,
and plays one or more first team games (excluding friendlies) in a season then
he will be considered a player and as such remuneration payable by the club for
the other duties shall also be included as Salary Cap Costs. Save that each club
may have an allowance of £15,000 for each player who acts as a Community
Development Officer in a project or role approved by the RFL Community
Development department. Such approval must be sought and registered at the
beginning of the Salary Cap year and must be counter signed by the Community
Development department again at the end of the year.

And what if the Community Development Officer isn't employed by the Club, but is employed by somebody else?

you mean like a full-time job and then part-time rugby player?
