| Strange announcement. For a team with SL ambitions to come out and say we are not spending fully up to the salary cap limit makes you wonder why. Is it through choice, is it because we havnt the income. Afterall we arnt running a second team and MC has mentioned about having a paper thin squad. Well it seems theres plenty of room under the cap so im guessing if he could he would have brought some more players in.
Dosnt bode well for our SL app as the RFL want all the teams in SL to be spending up to the maximum cap limit.
Strange strange announcement.

| Why would spending to the maximum of our cap help in any super league application?
It is all about having a sound business plan and correct budgeting. Running a business correctly will have more bearing on how our super league application is taken. We dont have a sugar daddy like other clubs who are prepared to pump money into the club, we have to generate our own money, living within our means, cutting our cloth accordingly are word not usually used with the past of Halifax RLFC.
But i for one are pleased to see that we have eventually learnt from out previous problems and are building the club internally.
If we can asemble a squad like this under the cap, what would it be like if we had the income to spend to the limit?
The statement was made because like myself i was fearful of how things would affect us, to find out that it wont affect us puts all my fears to bed. I dont think the same can be said about Barrow and Widnes, i am sure they would have been spending to the limit of the cap.
Our house is in order, the futures bright its Blue and White.

| Does it not say that the club are spending wisely and not just giving stupid amounts of money to players. I think this is a positive note from the club that they have learnt from past mistakes and are prepared to build for the clubs future.
Plus if you look at our team, despite poor form at the moment, it's one of best squads in the division and we have room for improvement if needed. That to me shows shrewd business sense on the clubs part.
Why do we always question the running of the club without any actual information as if we know better? ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

| I'm very impressed with that statement. It's better than some of the agonizing statements we've had to sit through in the past. Well done to all. Let's be as competitive as possible in the league the RFL will let us play in

| I think it shows good signs from the club and shows we aren't paying players ridiculous amounts. Are our players still paid on a performance basis?
Another thought, has anybody thought about putting money into a pot for the players for if we win the grand final? Obviously we don't have a sugar daddy and would be a nice thing for fans to do.
I seem to remember this happening a few years ago, I think it might have been our relegation season, or first season in national league. Basically I think the pot of money was then bet on us winning the gf or not getting relegated (to obviously make more money if we managed this) and then would have been split between the players. It might be another way to give the team a boost....anyway just a thought!

So we should just spend for the sake of spending to reach the cap - like in Fastasy Rugby League games? If the club thinks they've got the squad needed to compete, why do they have to spend to the cap limit? I applaud them for buying quality, not quantity in this respect because for a club spending below the cap, we've some bloody excellent bargains. You need to take your gloomy hat off Florimo and have a bit of faith in those running the club. Would you rather they followed Leigh or Doncaster's example this year?

But hasnt it been painfully obvious, even before this sticky patch struck, that we needed one or two players. With so much to spend you would think we might of brought those one or two in.
Realistically come 2011 and say you have us and Widnes competing for SL. Both have nice stadiums decent youth set ups etc etc. But one of them shows they have the means to spend quite a decent chunk of the SL salary cap limit. Who is getting the nod? Afterall big Nige has stated publically that he expects all SL clubs to be spending up to the maximum limit of the salary cap.
However i do say well done to the club if we are only spending 250K because we have obviously found a bit of a way round the salary cap.

We are not a rich club can people get that into their heads. What money and where would it come from to just keep signing players?
We are not a Barrow or Widnes with Moneybags Chairmen pumping in a lot of money.
We are the best of the rest though and if we keep going in the right direction (the last 3 games apart) we will compete well at the top of our league.
i do not want to go back to 1992, 1999, 2001, 2007 again please.

I agree totally. We dont want to go back to those times, unfortunatley the downside of not having money to spend is that we wont stand a chance when it comes to SL. But wouldnt it be good if we could become the best team in this league over the next 3 years and if by some miracle the RFL decides they want us in and we turn them down. ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)
