A few more points this weekend cos of the hot weather I suppose ... sometimes I feel 'nackered just watching the players retreat 10 yards at every tackle, then charge forward, try and down a 17 stoner, retreat 10 yards ... quickly ... no wonder defences get tired and there's points galore. Try watching a match on video from the 80s (preferably Halifax 19 Scouse 18 in '87
) and you'll appreciate how much harder it was for a team to break down defences when they only had to retreat 5 yards ... less room to work in and a less tired defence. Obvious statement I suppose! And in those days if you went 18 nil up you was confident of winning .... now you have to be 30 points up with 10 minutes to go before you can breathe easy!
