I was really pleased to see someone like Tezza say something positive about heartland rugby league clubs instead of Sky and their buddies talking abour expansion that is never gonna work in the long term. Well done Terry.
"Why not both of them?," said O'Connor. "I have always had a lot of affection for Halifax: I almost signed for them back in '97 when John Pendlebury was the coach and they are a genuine heartland club.
"I've nothing against teams in France or Wales, but I want to see the teams like Widnes and Halifax, clubs with real salt of the earth rugby league supporters, do well.
"Both clubs are doing all the right things on and off the field and I hope that continues to pay dividends for them."

It's the whole franchise system I don't like. It's open to "skulduggery" .... I don't trust the selection policy or the people in charge. And it's not so much who'll they allow IN in 2011, but who will they chuck OUT. If all the SL clubs are percieved to be competing on the pitch and are getting their stadia in order then I cannot see how the franchise system can possibly work for NL1 clubs. That's why promotion and relegation HAS to be a part of things. The whole thing's a sham and I hate it.
