After supporting halifax for 14 years i have never seen us in a proper final and with everything going great within our club at the moment lets make it even better tomorow. The butterflies have started already!

I agree with you to a point but i wouldnt mind a few of their players in a Fax shirt.

I had a wander round the car boot this morning in Halifax and saw an `87 cup final programme. Passed it by once over as I already have a couple but then superstition took over me and I had to go back and buy it . I got to thinking it would be unlucky not to,boy was I relieved it was still there.

You could say I'm a veteran when it comes to Halifax in finals ...

1980 - Saw us lose at Headingley against Leeds (yeah, NOT a neutral venue!) 6 - 15 in the Yorkshire Cup Final


1987 - Went to Wemberlee to see us beat St Scouse 19-18 in the CC Final


1988 - Went to Wemberlee to see us lose against Cheating Pies 12 - 32 in th CC Final


1991 - Went to Old Trafford to see us lose to Salford (can't remember the score) in the Second Division Premiership Final



Went to Widnes against York in that sham of a relegation play off but let's not count that eh?

But I must admit I'm a tad nervous about today. We've come on leaps and bounds in the past 3 years and there's a feel good factor and buzz about the place again, and it would be tremendous if the club could consolidate all that hard work with some silverware. By the same token, it would be tragic if we slip up today, defeat doesn't bear thinking about and I dread the feeling such a tragic outcome will have on me this evening.

But for all the rivalry between ourselves and Vikingman and his mates, let's respect that he is as passionate about his club as we are Halifax. We are all fans alike. May the best team win, and god pray it will be the mighty Fax ... come on lads, give it your best shot!

Of course, Short Backward Square! Yep, I was there ... lost 12-24 against Wigan. John Dohery (spelling?) was coach and Shaun Edwards said Halifax were the best team "tactically" Wigan had played that season (despite being a 2nd division side). That's one of the reasons why Dohery got the Wigan coaching job

what about premiership final at Elland Road against Warrington

Didn't go to that (

) but I watched it on tellie ... lost 38-10 to a Les Boyd inspired Les Boyd, but that's because Smokin Joe had gone back to Oz. And didn't go to the Charity Shield final on the Isle of Man against Cas & Wigan either.

Very nervous today. Widnes have nothing to lose really and everybody seems to see us as Favs. I just hope the boys can keep up the way they have been playing. I am sure last weeks game was great prep as it showed we can never relax! Widnes have some quality players and they really are in last chance saloon for this season and no doubt they have been reminded of that. The game could go either way. Widnes Fans are generally a decent bunch who are passionate about the game and their team. Best of luck to them and have a safe journey-just hope you lose today!


Sadly I will be listening to the game on the net and my neighbours will wonder what the shouting (Hopefully) will be about around 5.35pm here. I belive the boys can do it IF they play like they can and do not allow Widnes a sniff of victory which happened last week against Barrow!
