It has concerned me all season but we have so far got away with it by our attacking ability elsewhere but today it stood out a mile that we do not have a recognised stand off and one with a good kicking game.

Sheffield played a very clever kicking game especially in the first half putting us back time and time again whilst we kicked very badly yet again.
We have only managed to get our kicking game together now and then like Penky did against Widnes second time around.

Blakcy kicks too near the wingers or full back and after him we only get the ocassional kick from Penky or Govin when he was playing.
Its the one thing we are missing Holly for he killed team pushing them back many times.
Okay Penky put three long distance kick and chases in today but they were not hurt by them unlike the drop outs they forced on us plus that next to last try where we knocked on after a grubber kick giving them possession to go on and score.

If we are not going to sign a new stand off which is a hard position to fill then we need to get some practice in for somebody to take the responsibilty on - put the kicks behind the full back, make tham have to turn and fetch near their own line or in the in goal area.

i thought bob beswick would come in and do that job he certainly finds distance with the kicks he does i think the problem is there is not a set person too do the job and no one knows who to pass to cause all the play makers have a go occasionaslly.

we need to sort it out though. gaz moore would have done it i think if he had stayed and also i thoght that is what we loaned tom hemingway for he is supposed to have a pretty decent kicking game.

i would give the job to beswick though when hemingway goes back.

Why don't we try Barker against Donny?

Not being funny here but if i was Anthony Bowman i might be a bit peeved. He is an obvious talent why not let him show us what he can do rather than bring in someone who has struggled to make an impact wherever he has played.

Totally agree ! The lad is quality and loves to control games. I would like to see him given a full game to prove what he is all about. Doncaster ?

Agreed, at least, have a pivot player on the bench to replace him if things aren't going to plan

Anthony definitely has the talent and should get his chance. Hope to see him this week at Donny.

lets get one thing straight about andy bowman,he was down to play against sheffield but the lad rang in sick on morning of the game.if he is ok on thur im sure he will take his chance

i presume thats why we've signed Hemingway - his kicking is supposed to be pretty good.It would also make sense to play him at 6 and release Penky back into the forwards - he is so much more dangerous near the action / play the ball and not at first or second receiver.
Sheffield showed how important a good kicking game is - i thought their tactics/kicking was spot on.
