| He's got a very experienced coaching set up around him, he isn't going at it by himself, he's much too clever for that.

We could discuss this "problem" forever. Why should young British coaches stay in RL when the selfish clubs insist on bringing in foreign Johnny's ??? They have got used to a high salary and the RFU and RU clubs are prepared to pay so they will go where the money is, who can blame them ?
The RL clubs will kill their own game by bringing over foreigners, there are dozens of British coaches who are out of the game and should be in employment at first grade level. The SL has become stale as a spectacle, each game is robotic five and kick, there's no flair anymore. Halifax were the "entertainers" last season and hopefully will continue to be, let sides have to "work us out" and find a way of defending us instead of picking out the channel that Holly defended like the last two seasons. BORING !!!
Calland is doing a fine job encouraging his team to play football from anywhere on the field, the only scoring chances against us against Barrow were both from our own loose passing. It's entertainment, don't "die with the music in you".
The Widnes owner used the coach and team's "style of play" as a reason to sack his coach last week, hhhhmmmmm......

| Interesting article in the Times today about it. As recent as December 2007 ( a month after he retired after RUWC 07) he said there was no chance of him coaching at the top level as he saw what it did to coaches under the presssure.
Wonder what made him change his mind?

Its where the Money is though, There's big money contracts on offer in France, I think its a matter of time before one of the French RU Clubs tries to get a "Big Name" SL player. Gasnier and Sonny Bill have already gone fom the NRL.
I aint no expert, but English RU looks to be having some difficulties in parts, Bristol are expected to go bust aren't they? Yet at the same time, Leicester are carrying out massive redevlopment and expansion of their Welford Road ground.

| Union is not as healthy as it portraits. Newcastle and Bristol are in real trouble. Saracens is now South Africa which has not pleased some of the fans. Wasps have lost 3 of their best players to French union.
The other thing is French Rugby Union is based on Millionaires throwing money away and then going off in a strop like the guy at Toulon who is blasting everybody including Money Bill Williams (Which I am really happy about and hope he is struggling!) Many French teams have few Union players from France and I feel its good for French Rugby League as French Rugby League has a quota and things are being better run than in the past.

Passed there on Weds. The new stand is massive and won't be long before it's completed. As there is no room for them to build around the ground, they've gone up.

Maybe, he has made a very tidy sum from being the best 'Rugby' player of this generation and he isn't greedy by any stretch of the imagination.
Maybe he got offered a new challenge and was too good to turn down. He says in his autobiography he is always looking for the next challenge, hence why he went to Union in the first place.
Because of the structure of Union he isn't 'the boss' so to speak, thats still Phillippe Saint-Andre.

| But he has missed a fair few games being injured-good business by Wigan as he is well past it! But Union are stupid to pay him so much. I believe he is moving in to coaching at Saracens a contact of mine said ( He used to coach him at Youth level).
Owen his son is also at Saracens and is sad a decent young player is lost to the kick and Slap brigade. He did well at all the League National Camps. Hopefully one day he will go back to League.

Not sure how long it will be as the main Supergirder only went up a few months ago, It was on Sky Sports News about it, couple of Hundred Fans turned up to watch it go up.

Still there, See his Old Man around Oldham from time to time, I'll ask him what he's upto.
