| Quote ="Greg Florimos Boots"The stats also show he was part of our 3 worst finishes in this division albeit one was as a player so its fair to ignore that one. Ultimatley coaches leave jobs 2 ways, either move on to something better or get sacked. Grix got something better and he has been a part of the mess that is happening at Hull and as a double whammy he left us with a squad that was way past its sell by date but the writing was on the wall about that even with the 1895 win.'"
Stats are taken as a percentage across the full period and not based on just the worst figures even though I know that’s what you always like to focus on and mention 3 years and then knock one off because he wasn’t the coach is laughable.
That's precisely the point even though they know about them and have enjoyed the good times the same people never mention his successes, it's like they never happened or it must have been down to someone else.
Such a massive rumpus that goes on for years when a player leaves who they would have kept only they are mentioned.
Never a comment that he was the one who identified them and brought them here in the first place or the about face logic that a coach any coach would sign a player he rated only to then use them as a scapegoat and him about to the point that he left.
Never a thought to those he brought in who have been good signings and stayed.
Like the comment on what's happening at Hull, you have no idea of what went wrong yet choose to implicate Simon Grix but if you read anything about it or listen to any professional commentary on the real cause of the problems none of them mention Simon Grix.

| Quote ="Greg Florimos Boots"Personally I feel like our current predicament is down to a failure to freshen up our squad when it was badly needed, poor man management of some players that were signed, and a lack of knowledge about contracts from our football manager afterall we have to remember that our squad spend this season went up by between 100-150k compared to the previous season. Unfortunatley a combonation of those things has seen people jump ship and leave us in a right mess.'"
As before how much first hand knowledge do you have of how many players were approached and we tried to sign or how they were managed whilst here?
What’s described in typical critical fashion as “failure” was in fact down to being outbid or they decided not to come.
Players coming and going for those and other reasons happens every year to every coach and every club, are they all failures and poor at man management then or is it just Fax.
It’s already happened in the recruitment drive for next season an example is Joe Keyes leaving after being offered a good contract extension but being outbid by Bradford by an amount we simply couldn’t match.
As a replacement we tried to sign Meadows from London and Riley Dean to replace him but again we were outbid by Bradford and cash splashing Oldham.
Both those and several others before when RD was here were down to money and choice and nothing to do with failure or lack of understanding contracts, on the latter RD had IC giving some support at times along the way.
How much expertise do you have of coaching, man management, contracts etc and how much of it is based first hand during Grix time here or currently to make a qualified assessment of be judgemental about?

| I get that you and LU are big Grix fans and its fine but other people hold different opinions as well. One of my opinions is that Fax under Grix played some of the worst rugby I have seen in my 40 odd years of watching Fax at the back end of his tenure. His failure to address obviously problems in the squad lead to a team that had gone stale and the same was said about his coaching but its no real surprise, 3 or 4 years tends to be around the maximum we see coaches stay at teams.
I can't say I am overly pleased with Finn either but I will wait till next season to make judgement because he got dealt the hand that Grix gave him along with a football manager who didnt know his from his elbow when it came to playing contracts. The odds were more than stacked against him.

Well again you get it Wrong 100%. I don't care who or what it is about just simply a big fan of seeing a balanced commentary of events based on factual knowledge of what's being talked about from someone who knows what there talking about rather than a one sided biased running commentary that sounds like some sort of extremist propaganda where an opinion or view has now become a judgement.
As before, after the event everything that went wrong past present and future was down to Grix and everything that went right wasn't but if you can do a better job then go and do it but if not with a blank CV of your own don't presume to sit in judgement of those that try to.

Sorry but more contradictions just to fit the same old story line.
So Grix has a team with the same ducks lined up that over the course of a matter of weeks in the same season beats another team twice but in the third game loses because Joe Keyes hits the post from a penalty from a field position he had kicked a dozen times previously.
That's not just sport of course it's miserable failure down to Grix
Grix first six game comment is yet another well known aspect of sport that you simply either don't understand or if you do want to twist the meaning.
Point 1. Every coach, player, supporter wants to win every game but don't expect to do so with the ups and downs in form across the season, what he was simply saying is that if you don't start well then all is not lost and the importance shifts to how well you can finish that will count but even then the very nature of sport means nothing can be guaranteed.
Point 2. The winter comment was said based on the squad he had which was more suited to a dry track than a winter one and the winter results showed that to be the case and connecting both comments we finished better than we started eventually losing to another good side in the play offs by the narrowest of margins which again is what happens week in week out in sport.
In connection with that no club at our level have squads big enough to be at the same strength in winter as in summer it's another well known aspect of the sport that everyone who knows the game will have heard being said.
Just one example, Fev beat Wakefield on a mud bath but got ripped apart on the dry try tracks.
Especially to start with you are either weighted with the bigger plodders or with the smaller mobile guys and later you may try and bring in some size or speed as the season goes on depending on your needs, finances and availability either by direct signings, loans or DR's that's simply just how the game is now we're not back in the 70's 80' or any other by gone era.
Apart from that how does Finn inheriting everything from Grix explain some of his signings and his team selections which have been just as much a headscratcher without receiving the same amount of criticism from the same ones who continue to give it out to Grix?
All that being said though the bottom line is you chose to start this all by bringing up Springer and Doro again years later after the Doncaster game which whilst not amounting to lying about someone or something, whether it's dressed up as an opinion, judgement or whatever it's based on ignorance of the events and amounts to a total misrepresentation of the facts concerning the people involved and named by you which is simply wrong and untrue, that's what I object to.

Yeh right I knew it wouldn’t be long before the old smoke screen of it’s a Forum, it’s just an opinion and we can say what we like about anyone and anything behind there backs.
Don’t worry if it’s not true I can still sit in judgement of others they have no rights it’s ours that count and the little club of 3 can all like each other’s posts.
It doesn’t matter that an opinion has double standards and judging people differently on the very same criteria isn’t discrimination.
Like it or not that’s my opinion / observations of this crew based on years of experience on here and I await the next victim because for a certainty there will be someone.

| Everything is going to differ depending on who you hear it from and the reality usually ends up been somewhere in the middle. Im willing to bet money that there are some players who thought Grix was a fantastic coach but I know for certain there are some experienced players who were here in his time that thought he was a terible coach, just one example although there are plenty more, ask QLT what he thinks of Grix as a person and a coach and I would bet its polar opposite to what someone like say Ben Tibbs thinks of him. Similar I'm sure there might be people out there who thought our new BOD did a great job, afterall we were told on here by some how good it were going to be with the new regime. I think its fair to say now that a lot of us disagree with that but it is just opinions.

| Yep, Ryan King was another who wasn't getting picked before he left, but he's always been outstanding for Haven every time he played against us. Lazy in training, maybe, but you can't fault his commitment as he's currently playing for nothing with an injured knee in a seemingly hopeless situation. It's all about perception, innit?

But some people only state things heard directly from the source who were there when it happened with an opinion based on that.
Other people with pre conceived opinions state things according to their bias.
Still others have a grudge and on QLT I know what his was and it’s pretty simple, namely Simon Grix chose Scot Grix instead of him.
Of the above 3 options choose for yourself which one is the most reliable to base any opinion on and the type of person that uses their opinion to constantly slag someone else off behind their backs.
I for one don’t post what I don’t know or if I do I say so and at least try and check the accuracy first.

Unfortunatley this was a common theme over his tenure as coach as his favoritism cost us multiple good players, many who do not hold a good opinion of him but should their opinion count because it could be looked at as though they hold a grudge against him or is that just sport?
I mean we could have had a pack that had Doro(lets not forget he never got a real go long before what he were accused of, but again maybe Grix didn't do his homework on his character?), Springer, and Gwaze and ended up with a pack that would have been feared in this divsion but instead we ended up with a pack that could not break its way out of a wet paper bag. Do I blame Grix for that? 100% I do. Would this season have been as bad if Grix had of stayed thats the question? My opinion is that Grix may have been too stubborn to change things and by the time he did it may have been too late. Its all hear say but ive seen or heard nothing from the situation from Hull that makes me think him not been at Fax is a mistake.
Again going back to coaches running their course with teams and I thought that was very much the case with Grix and it was very similar to the Richard Marshall situation and you had a few saying he would go on to be a fantastic coach in SL but we all know that didn't happen but he is for certain a really good assistant coach and maybe that is what will happen to Grix and hopefully he does really well, its just been a first team coach is not for everyone.

Gwaze asked for too much money during a short spell of form and also banned for 8 games .
Springer was removed for questioning the authority of the coach after being called out for being lazy in defence.
Doro stole from a fellow player and shortly after his transfer to Bradford deliberately smashed miles lawfords teeth out during a training session.
Grix made the right decisions imo .

I’ll tell you where there is a common theme.
Your opinion is based on not rating Grix from day one before he had even started running his course it didn’t start 3 or 4 years afterwards and still continues to this day and your posts are based on trying to proof that you were right from day one the bulk of them based on the original biased opinion with no factual support it’s almost like an obsession.
Yes we could have had a pack with Springer, Doro, Gwaze and King if taking them in that order they would have done what was being asked, trained like the rest of the squad, had been offered a huge pay increase that would have made him the highest payed player at the club and didn’t have a girl friend who was still living in Cumbria at the time.
On the other hand if you think allowing players to refuse to do what their asked, not train as hard but still get picked ahead of those fighting for the same position who train their butts off, break the bank and somehow sort out their personal affairs so their minds are fully on the job is the way to do things then as before go and do it then and see how far you get.
Because that’s what was happening and what Grix had to sort out along with the rest of it which is a lot harder to do than sitting in an armchair.

It would be a lot higher than 10th. The sad facts of sport at a high level that simply giving 100% and trying hard is not enough for some players. Managing the players who have the talent but are not putting the effort in is a huge part of coaching.

In your dreams it would be but I don't recall seeing your name on the applicants list or did you think after listening to you on here they should have called you
On coaching and managing players the facts of sport at any level are if and when a player and coach don't see eye to eye ( which does happen, in fact it has even happen to me on more than one occasion but I was always the one who didn't get picked or had to leave and it wasn't quietly ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) ) the coach should have the final say, why, because the coach is thinking about the team and the squad the player is thinking about himself and on the latter point I'm sure you will understand.
Incidentally, how much managing / coaching of players have you done at any level in the past or recently more importantly in the modern game ?
