Jon Luke played for Hunslet against us in cup.He has been thro Hudds academy but as they not got a reserve side he not getting game time.Has a Hudds first team squad number but not played this season(18th man on easter monday)6 foot tall .

Probably because Huddersfield are in SL and they probably have plenty of fringe players that will either do well or stand out at this level.

Hopefully that is the case. We shall see.

Also, Scott Grix May have said to his brother that this lad is worth taking a punt on for a months loan. Doesn’t cost anything and it’s not Duel Reg ( that should make Hudd-Shay happy)

He was one of the standout props in the academy league last year. Hes a big lad with a great attitude. Hes just not quite ready for SL yet. Hes definitely ready to play in the Championship though. He will spend the rest of this season in the Championship and then will likely go back out on a season long loan next year ready for SL the year after.

recalled from hunslet by Huddersfield so could come to us. saltonstall and woodburn-hall both playing for hunslet on DR tomorrow.

Looks like Grix has spent no time at all pandering to anyone not pulling their weight. One of Marshall's biggest downfalls was his indecision and looks like there will be none of that with Grix.

Saltys scoots from play of the ball may have got us on the front foot yesterday so you have to question that decision. Prefer sharpe at fullback where he looked the safer hands collecting the bombs

He didn't stand out but there again not many did.

You see what narks me is , and i mean no detriment to the kid. If Huddersfield are that bothered about giving a 20yr game time then set up a blinking reserve team.

All these SL clubs Leeds , Saints , Shudds , Salford etc arf damaging the game long term with a pyramid of knock on effects that long-term go on to ruin the international set up.

I could really do an essay but i wont , however if you say you are SL ready i think the least you should do is have a stepping stone from Academy to 1st team

but why waste your breath and ink. You know it falls on deaf ears, until the Championship break away it will always be the same.
IF Championship side do break away watch the fun and games in Duper League without D/R ect to bail them out.

According to this weeks L/Exp Pooper League are on the verge of approving Reserve Grade Comp next Season with the exception of Le Cats while clubs o/s the Top Flight with a Cat 1 Academy Will also be included .
Academy Age Group reduced to U18s.
Not sure where this will put Fax in the scheme of things

I was led to believe that Halifax would be included in the reserve league due to having made a long term commitment to this level and running a professional and competitive team.

Bentleyman: Whilst this can only be good for the game. Not having read the article myself, but not doubting your reading of it, 'on the verge of approving' a Reserve grade comp, will that mean compulsory for the 11 other teams, or will they find a way to wheedle out of it? As I see it, approving means it will be there, but you don't have to take part. not picking holes just looking from another angle.

Bentleyman, thank you for the info. This could put an end to D/R , or will it just mean duper league come and raid championships for fringe players next year because they can't / haven't been bothered to invest previously?
What will the rules be, if any to stop teams taking players wholesale on loan for a few months to supply their requirement of a reserve team.
Not wanting to be a doom monger, if I have thought about it, so must others.
