| Quote ="Rotherham Fev Fan"Aye still here.... still twitching at the possibility of another upset at the hands of fax.
All good here in Rovrum. Hope you n yours remain well'"
On twitching.
Obviously there is still some expectancy regarding Fax but I think most, Fax faithful and pundits realize that we are not favorites.
That can help when we lose games that we were expected to lose!
On the other hand when you are at the top the pressure on supporters often dominates our thinking and the games week in week out and it can end up where the relief from not losing is greater than the joy of winning spoiling the enjoyment somewhat particularly on game day where you stand there for most of the game stressing out.
In the above sense Fev fans must be under some sort of stress having built for so long and having come so close, even the thought to lose out again must be more than twitchy. ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

| That defeat will take some getting out of the system i am still in a foul mood know. That for me was the best we have played for some time including last season. There were a number of turning points were the result could of gone our way and not to mention fev are a strong team that kept coming for the full 80. 2 sin binning's for backchat at the ref is asking for trouble that is in our power to put right. And murray losing the ball in the act of scoring. The ball bouncing over louis from a kick threw which smith scored from and then louis makes a break and he is 2 on 1 with there fullback and with Walmsley on is outside and is hamstring goes so we could not take advantage of that opportunity. Also Walmsley gets put away up the touchline approach's the fullback chips over the top and the fullback takes him out but the referee says play on. All in all a very good effort against for me the best team in the comp so credit to simon and the players for that. The problem we have is we will probably need to go on a long winning run again to finish were i believe we should be in the top 3 if we play like yesterday then i would say we can and also have a very good chance against leigh.

I was not happy with the board giving him a clause in is playing contract that when marshal left he would get the job not that that is Simon's fault but not a good place to start. Then i think he as shown clear favoritism towards is brother and other players over others he would say different but i have seen some poor performances get severely punished were others are guaranteed to be in the side regardless of how they play and it is happening again this season. And if you look at our performances since he took over there as been far more poor performances then good. I hope that what we saw on sunday from the team is a sign of things to come from the side for the rest of this year and nothing would please me more from a rugby perspective for simon to go on and have a very successful coaching career at halifax. If you would like to read a one sided love fest about simon go on the clubs facebook page if anyone dare say a bad word about him on there they have a fit.

We had a similar start last year but we will come good . I think there’s certainly a case made for a nepotism regarding his brother. I also think part of the rebrand was to attract more fans and part of that was to play attractive attacking rugby which Simon seems to be taking on board as part of his philosophy. Not really a Facebook user and certainly not involved in any click , just wanted an objective viewpoint.

And want to be clear that whatever i think about how simon got the job or the decisions he as made i will always support the club and contribute financial to the club as much as i can so that for me is supporting him.

Tbh the question wasn’t directed at anyone in particular just a generalisation. I followed fax from the late 80s as a child up until the late 90s and on and off since . I was looking for a new hobby to share with the Mrs ‘ and my parents have followed fax for 30 plus years. Obviously being new back one advantage is I don’t really have an opinion swayed either way but as a returning fan the style of rugby is decent and I think Grix will do well over the course of the season . Tbh I think if we had the same budget has fev and Leigh we would be genuine contenders .

| Just watched the highlights back of the game. Three things:
1) What was Barber's yellow card for?
2) It appears Dan Murray gets the ball down under the posts what isn't given.
3) Walmsley drops the ball onto his foot for the intercept so should have been play on.
Didn't go to the game so can't say that there weren't moments that Fev should have benefited from a decision or two that went against them but its still frustrating to lose that one in the end.

I think barber was back chat but not sure , Murray admitted in the interview after he didn’t ground it , I thought the same about the walmsey intercept but wasn’t sure of the technicality of the knock on rule , we certainly had more than a few chances , full game has now been uploaded so I will watch tomorrow at some point .

I think the interpratation is that its a knock on as he didn't have prior control of the ball so its slightly different to someone carrying the ball and dropping it on to their foot. The Barber sinbinning is one of those annoying ones, Fev seemed to get a run of penalties around that point and we know players are offside all the game but the the Fev player drops the ball cold, I think barber was offside but it had no bearing on the ball been dropped and its one of those where the majority of the time the ref just gives the knock on. Its stupid by Barber to back chat but can see why he did it.

Having watched the game back I think the female fev fan who can be heard parroting ‘ come on rovers’ in a shrill Norah batty style voice should receive a lifetime ban for persistently offending my ears .

| For the barber incident i was watching the game and gale took the ball in and dropped it i was all excited about us getting a chance to attack fevs line and the next thing i see was the ref going to is back pocket to sin bin barber. I didn't see the ref make any signal as to why he made that call i presumed it was for backchat. Also when tangata got binned in the second half he didn't stop having a go at the ref while he was walking off i thought if he doesn't stop he will get sent off. And as greg says murray admitted in is post match interview that he dropped the ball trying to get it down. It is too late now but all that effort and nothing to show for it feels like 2 points lost that we should of won.

| Just watched the game on YouTube and Fax gave it a right go. Not a lot between the teams but we didn't get the rub of the green we might have done on another day. Neither did we get the best decisions by the man in the middle, the Barber incident was one which was particularly baffling. We are definitely getting there and we won't be losing many more if we keep that type of performance up and get some players back. We could quite easily be playing Fev twice in quick succession again later in the year. We'll see. Up The Fax! ![Thumbs up icon_thumb.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_thumb.gif)

Watched it back last night and got to say the Ref cancelled out quite a few Fev handling errors, there was 3 or 4 times Fev knocked on in their own half only for Fax to be given off-side, not surprised Barber got a little irate.

Absolutely, and each one of them decisions is a twelve tackle turnaround also. Plus it's not always how many penalties the ref gives, it's whereabouts on the pitch they are given. ![Cool icon_cool.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_cool.gif)

| Barber's sin binning was surely for repeat offenses. It was the fourth penalty Fax had conceded in the space of three minutes, the only thing I would say is the ref didn't noticeably signal the warning sign that the next offense would be a sin binning (do they still do that?).
There were a few strange decisions and certainly not all against Fax - for instance on the set after Barber had been sin binned, Saltonstall reefed the ball from Hall a yard out, it might just about have been one-on-one but the ball clearly went three or four yards forward yet Saltonstall fell on the ball and was allowed to play on.

| From watching the replay of the Barber sin binning I'd say its for back chat just from the ref's and Barber actions after the whistle goes. As far as I know the warning signal is still a thing so Im not sure it were for repeatable offences. Im not sure the ref's decisions had too much bearing on the result and Im sure theres multiple things evening it up, like the forward pass in the tackle before Fev's first try, its a good couple of yards forwards but on the flip side how many penalties did we get near our own line in the first half that let us off the hook?
With just a little bit of the rub of the green in other areas and we probably win the game it were that close. Jouffrett does not pull up and we probably win the game, Murray gets another yard we win the game, the Fev try off that kick where the bounce was horendous for Jouffret, that does not happen we probably win the game. Its really fine margins and exactly what we want to be seeing away from home against the best team in the division. Not a lot of room for error from now on but if we can take the two points from the Leigh game we will still be in a pretty decent position already playing those two teams once.

But what was the last penalty given for prior to Barber getting binned? I didn't see any signal from the ref? Fev drop the ball, Fax have a player sin binned and Fev get a penalty. Offside maybe? ![Neutral icon_neutral.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_neutral.gif)

Yeah the penalty is offside but its about a yard or so, something that happens repeatedly through the game and goes unpunished. What hurt the most with this one was the Fev player dropping the ball under no pressure ends with a penalty and sinbinning. If he caught the ball then there would have been no penalty but again maybe Fev score so who knows.

| With woodburn-hall close to fitness does anybody think we should put him straight back in at fullback or put him on the bench at the expense of a forward. We could also let him play for huddersfields reserves first to get some match fitness. And who would you leave out to play him.

Shades of Chris Kendall (or to be more accurate his touch judge) a few years ago in the last minute at Post Office Road when John Davies shot out on the last tackle and Tyrer was given a penalty in front of the posts...yep a lot of randomness to those decisions though, I'd agree.
Game could have gone either way, Fev were really lacklustre for much of it, Fax played very well, hope you give Leigh plenty to think about next week.
