Crowd-less Eagles are the top dogs now pal but I wouldn't rule out the real Doggies either, I might even attend the NRC final now depending who's contesting it.

I thought we'd lift the cup regardless of thursday night's result!

Just been talking to one of my workmates who is a Fev season ticket holder and he said pretty much the same.

Fev started like a house on fire, then a few wayword passes and intercepts, Heppy not defending too well etc.

Rovers were camped on Leighs line for long periods but they defended like titans and held on.

Must have been a cracking atmosphere with it undecided untill the last few mins.

At least you lads have manned up and taken it on the chin.

Onwards and hopefully upwards.

I know quite a lot of people dont like him but a lot of credit must also go to Mark Aston at the eagles.He does seem to get the best out of his players tactically and motivationally. Think he is quite shrewd as well.
I dont know how they attract the players they do on their crowds but I wouldnt mind some of their team down at the shay. Brambani and Walker do control things pretty well and bring in the outside backs to good effect. The forwards are always impressive , they set the platform for the halfs and any team with Yere and QLT will always score tries. Just cant work out how they afford to carry on because playing at Bramall Lane , Don Valley cant be cheap. But credit to them they are going really well at the moment.

Agreed faxcar, n ya FEV mate has got the game bang on. Should have put that in the league express n saved paper.

Don't think many Fax fans will be there for that game!

I suppose with us being out we have lost interest in the NRC and I think looking at whose left NR may have lost interest too.
Only teams of worth left in are Batley and Leigh.
Lets hope for a Batley v Leigh Final,
That should bring a bigger crowd to the Shay than any other game.

I might be wrong, but does the NRC final have a stand alone weekend? I thought due to the packed fixture list the teams who made the final would have to rearrange fixtures?

If not, I may go to the final, past couple of years the NRC final tickets have been a rock bottom price, probably the cheapest admission i've paid all season both years. If thats the case and there is a prospect of a good game then I'll go.

The 8 teams remaining all have a good chance I think, Sheffield have to be the current favourites but they aren't unbeatable, Leigh, Batley, Workington, Whitehaven, Dewsbury, Swinton & Doncaster can all play well on their day. Most of those are clubs who seem to play well at home. I've not got stats available but its often said that Batley, Dewsbury, Sheffield and the Cumbrian teams favour the conditions their home ground offers. So depending on who gets who in the draw could have a big bearing on who makes the semis.

Charlie, if Leigh or Batley make the Final even if it against Sheffield I will be in the South Stand, occasionally visiting the Bar and the chip van.
If Sheffield make the final but Leigh and Batley don't I will be elsewhere.
If Sheffield get knocked out prior to the final then no matter who is there the South Stand bar and chip van will receive my patronage.

The final is on the Saturday, as it stands it's Leigh v Halifax on the Sunday so no standalone weekend, although you would assume that there won't be any league games on the Saturday.
