| Quote ="billyfax"Another one on a similar line is on the May Day bank holiday could we do something to remember Wembley '87 and past Halifax successes to try and encourage extra supporters. If you wear a halifax shirt or have a blue and white scarf you can get a discount on the game (such as £4 or half price).
Maybe the club could have past players paraded and make a day of it for club. Make it an annual day to remember how good our club is.
This could help shirt trade and scarfs too.'"
At the Cass game on Saturday I was talking to Gary Stephens who asked me if I was going to organise another `87 reunion so he could attend I replied I doubt it.Came out of Cass` hospitality and bumped into Paul Dixon and Wilf George ,someone said Roy Dickinson was there too.So there is still lots of interest from them all.So I think it would be a good idea to have a special day for all the past players to attend.

| What about a sticker system where if you go to 8 home games in the season you get the ninth one free or something along those lines. Maybe get in for £5. That way it isn't as cheap as buying a season ticket but for those who can't make every game maybe it's a way of encouraging them to make as many as possible.
They can receive a card and the person on the turnstile can give them a sticker to put on there card at each game if they pay the £14. There are 10 league games and 2 nothern rail games at home so gives them a bit back for coming.
Obviously it's better to buy a season ticket but just a thought.
Just an idea, but it's an option i guess.
*In the way MacDs do there coffee offer, where you get a free one after six.

| How about something aimed at the local junior teams. We could have a come in your kit day (during our sunny summer days ).
The parent and child can get in for £10 or something instead of £15.

This is an idea I suggested in my presentation when I was shortlisted for the job as marketing executive. (I lost out to Paul Ebray (?) in the end).

| just so you all know. . halifax rlfc gets nothing from bar sales in the ground. . all monies over the bar go to the council. . so if we had a really big game at the shay, say st helens in the cup, we would get extra revenue from ticket sales but nothing whatsoever from the sales of drink/food in the stadium
this looks likely to be the case in the new stand too

But i thought having a completed stadium would boost the revenue streams. Isn't that what the RFL said would work in our favour when the stadium was completed? What about functions on non-matchdays?

It will , for the council , somehow you must get control of the Shay if you ever want to get back into SL
If you dont you will end up like us
We have 15 days a year to make £ 600,000 income just to survive
So that works out at £ 40 grand a match
Thats why I had the 4,000 ave attendance figure on the other thread
I would guess you are at a similar level

The RFL need to know that we are financially viable. Having stadium facilities which generate revenue other than gate receipts is seen as a tick in the box.

| This might sound really daft but.
Why not send out a player or too to some Old People's Coffee mornings to help out, with a few tickets and the like, may get some people who havn't been down for years coming back, and they may even bring grand kids with them.

As Rich pointed out , the whole point of new stadiums is that they are making money for whoever runs them 7 days a week , 52 weeks a year
So it is vitaly important that if you ever wish to get into SL and be successful there you need control of the Shay and all it's revenue streams

ok i respect that. entrance into super league might well have to come first though before we can steadilty build the finances to 'control of the Shay and all it's revenue streams' in my non-expert opinion

To be fair the Council is putting the money in (£3.5 million) as did Wigan MBC for the LSV so they would expect to get a return on their money as its public money at the end of the day. Its unrealistic to expect them to hand the ground over to the sports clubs, much that we would all like them to.
The way the club will benefit with the new East Stand is in the Corporate side as there will be more scope to have a lot more Diners and Sponsors (it will be a lot easier to sell packages than the current set up, especially with that balcony feature) and make money from that plus the 10 boxes which they should get sponsorhsip from - all I believe to be sorted out with Calderdale MBC before next season yet.
Hopefully CMBC will not ask an unrealsitic rent from both Fax and Town, like it sounds Doncaster and Wigan Councils have done for Donny and Leigh RLFC.
If I had won the Euro lottery I would have bought the ground off the Council and set it up as a not for profit company to run its own affairs.

Nothing from the sale of food? When did that change? When I worked for HTAFC, we had an agreement with the food vans which saw them pay an amount to the club depending on the crowd based.

No chance when the stadium is shared with FC Halifax Town.
Regarding the bars, it has always been the case with the Southdale Lounge that the club does not benefit directly from its takings. However, the income generated through this source has ensured both the sustainability of SST and that the rent both clubs paid was kept to a minimum. It will be a similar situation with the new East Stand with revenue generated through the bars going to the Council. This once again will ensure that the stadium remains sustainable whilst helping keep the future rental payments by FCHT and HRLFC as low possible.
There will undoubtedly be new ways for the two clubs to raise commercial income by using the much enhanced facilities that will be available. For example there will be:
- six executive boxes that the club will be able to use (and sell on a seasonal basis).
- much improved banqueting facilities for attracting more corporate partners, sponsors and diners on a matchday.
- much bigger retail space providing a more professional shop for selling club merchandise.
The clubs have a huge part to play and will have to work with the company appointed by the Council to develop and maximise usage of the facilities to ensure full benefit is taken of the new stand. By providing these new facilities, the clubs has a lot of hard work to ensure it takes full advantage of what will be available to them.
Hopefully everyone with an interest will be able to work together for the benefit of each other and the Council will remain realistic over its future rent charges.
