You cant re-sign players just because they had 1 good game all season, Wilson and Barker shouldnt get new deals in my opinion, It'd b good if we could get Mat James singed up, if the lad stays injury free, which hes struggled to do this year he'd b class!!

agree entirely.im concerned we are not addressing our weaknesses now.our rivals are recruiting and may well have overtaken us come the business end.

would like prop, second row, standoff, centre and scrumhalf so also have strength in depth.

of the 4 games we have lost this season, 2 have been down to lady luck, and we could have won either of those. The other 2 have been down to a shocking lack of intensity (and puzzling team selection?)...not due to the lack of a stand off.

Halifax RLFC 2009 are not a team who needs the architypal stand off of old - we have pivots all over the place.

What we do need is mental strength to win big games...someone with experience of winning big games.

Now you have said that I have thought about it and your right. If we had brought in a 'normal' Stand-off we would have to change our style of play.

A good Stand-off is usually an organiser that directs a team around the park. That would disrupt our off the cuff methods.

Saw Matt James at the game and he said he is still about 8 weeks away from coming back. Hopefully we will have him for the play offs.

I do think we need to bring in some fresh players to see out the season, the squad we have are playing well but it is a long season and any further injuries may prove crucial at the end. If we can get players in and getting up to speed with the Fax style of play, they can help out when needed.

I'm, not sure Matt will play again this season. The club immediately after the injury happened made an appointment for Matt to see the specialist and if surgery was required (pretty certain it is) he would have been operated on pretty much straight afterwards. Meaning he would have been in pot now and probably nearly 2 weeks into his rehabilitation. Matt didn't turn up for the appointment the club made for him and is due to attend another appointment next week now I believe. He has a slim chance of making the playoffs as my understanding is the earliest he will get the op will be the week after next now. He would be in pot for approx 8 weeks, meaning pot comes off for first round of playoffs. Bit tight in my opinion but fingers crossed.
