Jumping the gun, but if we did make it into the Super League would we have to come up with a new name?
I always fancied "Halifax bombers" until I realised it would sound a bit like "Halifax bummers" in chants on the terraces. |

St Helens have Saints. Hull have FC/Airlie Birds.
My suggestion would be Halifax Hallers, a nod to your history with an abbreviation of the old Thrum Hallers nickname. A look at the Yanks and soccer shows that names don't have to be instantly anthropomorphic to get over with fans. Get your black cat in a top hat and you're away. The Hallers. You heard it here first.

I thought they used the 'Bombers' moniker at one time , seem to remember a badge with a Halifax bomber depicted on a Sky televised game. |

... and we have The Fax! We don't need a stupid name unless the RFL, in it's infinite wisdom, decides to award a franchise point for it which wouldn't surprise me in the least.  |
