Talking of wingers and pace brings to mind John Bentley.

Not normally one to be shown a clean pair of heals but a certain Paul Newlove did it in style one sunny Sunday afternoon at ThrumHall.

Up the slope Bentos showed him the outside and the Fev flyer took it with interest up the touch line and in with Bentos trailing in his wake.

Bentos was not slow with his humour either.

When Paul Bishop had wound up Crooksy enough to get him sent off there was allegedly an incident after the game where a couple of Cas supporters had waited to give Bish a bit of a Bash.

On being asked about this JB replied "Yes and to his knowledge it is the first recorded incident of the fan hitting the sh#t."

Many years ago, when Fax played on a Saturday at 3.00 p.m after the game a few of us were sitting in the Brown Cow up Highroad Well.
The doors opened and in walked a few of the Halifax team.
One of them, no names, but he was Welsh went on to Widnes I think and later owned a few nightclubs.
Any way he had an enormous gash down the side of his nose.
My mate, who thought it would be funny, said.
"hey *** your supposed to pick your name from the inside"
*** picked my mate up and threw him out the door.
Only trouble was the door was closed at the time.

Great signing, I am sure Karl will get him fit. Just to have him on the bench will send shivers down the spines of our opponents. I know how I used to feel when he played for Widnes and Fev and seeing coming of the bench thinking look out here goes for some bish-bash and I'm only sat in the stand.

Looks like we are putting together a really strong side that will be aggresive, fit and disciplined both on and off the field. I think not winning will not be accepted by Karl and this will help bring increased attendences who ever plays in the Campionship next year.
I thought we were lucky to get to Warrington last year and remembering we were being beaten comfortably for 60 minutes and only really got stuck in for the last 20mins ( I'll not forget Bob Beswick behind the posts after last Fev try geeing up the team)
This coming season I think we will be very much like Fev have been for the passed two years. Consistent and a joy to watch.
Hope we draw Bulls again at home in the Cup again. I feel it would be a diffent story this time.

Karl won't have a problem with him been fit you only have to see him now and he hasn't played for months it's the injuries and unfortunately it doesn't matter who the coach is As I have said keep him injury free you have one of the best in this league but if his luck doesn't change from his time at Fev and Widnes before that you will of signed a very expensive player The big question you need to ask is why didnt Fev want to keep him I hope his luck changes because when on the field he is good to watch

Didnt they? I guess they wanted to keep Tonks but the facts are that if Huddersfield hadnt have come in with a deal at the last moment he would have been playing in a Fax shirt next season.

Well it depends on how you define wanting to keep someone.
If they really wanted to keep him I'd assume they might have wanted to offer him a deal better than what was offered.
The club believe they can get better value elsewhere. Time will tell if they are correct.

Like I've said on previous posts. A cracking lad on and off the field. Smashing character and brings a buzz to the club.

It will be rare to find any players offered better deals this season. There simply isnt the money about.

Just to correct my comment earlier about why have we let him go not really true Pay as you play or a big contract at Halifax I am led to believe

Cheers sounds like the kind of player we need, a lot of our players the last few years have been very stand offish with us fans prbably becuase so was their coach, Calland!
