| Good to see so many positive posts for a change. Quite simply we have appointed someone whose previous role was first team coach at one of Super League's top clubs and from the limited number of times I've seen Warrington this season it's made better viewing than what I've been watching for most of the summer.

| Really pleased they are giving a young English coach a chance who has served an apprenticeship at Warrington, mainly under Tony Smith.
Rather have Richard than picking one off the merry go round of usual suspects, also remember him well from when he played at Fax
Good appointment IMO

| I am really pleased and relieved by this, I had a horrible feeling we were going to get one of the old school - Kear or Noble. The appointment of Richard Marshall a young and forward thinking coach will hopefully bring back the spark to Fax. These days with the general high standard of fitness and conditioning training, it is the psychological fitness of the players and game plans that give teams the edge. It is this edge that we have missed all season and that is what I hope Marshall will bring. We have some cracking players, but just haven't seen anything like the performances we should have or any cohesion in the squad.I can't wait to see what some of these lads can do with decent coaching and a lot more confidence. Roll on 2015 !

Yep, that pretty much sums it up, well done to the board for making a bold decision and giving him the remit of producing entertaining rugby.
Next season starts now!

| Yep, i'm ok with this choice, someone with their own ambitions and keen to improve themselves and the players, if he's good enough for The Wire he's good enough for us.
Nothing ventured nothing gained. this is a positive risk.
All coaches have to be given their first chance at being number one (Including Chris Anderson and Wayne Bennett) , and all the signs are there that we fit.
Roll on next season.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Could you explain that to Mapleyther? He thinks that Marshall is "all we can afford" which I find quite offensive.

See youtube interview from a couple of years ago.
Good listening, one thing puzzles me though, behind him is a www.stobartsuperleague sign, what ever happened to that?

| It's got a really good feel about it. I'd say he's taking a big risk leaving a good number at Wire behind. Young, ambitious, experienced at a very high level; it's ticks a lot of boxes. Let's hope he along with his own staff can bring some smiles back on the players faces. A month ago I'd had enough; today with a few more signings I may, just may be tempted to buy a season ticket again.
Great start Mr Croad and Abbott, keep it coming!

| My initial reaction was "Who, surely not that ex-player of ours?"
Then I saw he'd been at Wire under Tony Smith for a quite a while, had room to bring in his own players & the board had told him they wanted success with free flowing rugby.
Those last 3 words really excited me & he's coming from a club who like playing that way. Add to that the fact he knows the club and I'm thinking the board may have made quite an astute appointment !!

I guess the point is, I would imagine (and hope) that he is significantly cheaper than some of the experienced coaches named on here such as Nobby and Kear. Though that doesn't mean it's the wrong decision.
Another point is, he was in charge of the youth team at Wire, so is there a possibility we'll get some decent young loan players from them?
