Quote: marillion man "If Whitey ( or any other play as a matter of fact ) can't safely defuse a bomb in the full back position, how can he be expected to defuse them on the wing position, more than often within a couple of metres of defending the try line as is the modern way ?
I'm sorry, but if a side think someone has a weakness to their defence, their kicking will find the player out wherever he defends. In all honesty, I have nothing against the way Whitey plays for us, nobody deliberately drops a bomb or a pass, but I do feel that Worrincey & Rettie will be first pick wingers. Where White fits in is something else IMO but playing him as a full back will add to our second phase & support play with his lightning speed and he would have obvious value in the two wingers & full back quick play the balls returning from our own '22.
I don't mind discussing selections & positions but I don't wish to be critical of players directly.'"
cant see why Rhino would drop white from the wing, he was one of our top performers last year, and is a proven try scorer. Rettie is big, but for me is not a winger. dont get me wrong, he is a very handy player, but i dont see him in front of white for the no 2.
if anything it will be worrincy that will be watching his bck for the wing berth, and him and rettie are very similar players. in that they are both capable of making good yards and helping out the forwards.
we all know that Rhino will pick on performance, and how they go in training, which can only be good for the team, and player effort.
