Lost something like 36-12, but a big improvement overall - finally started getting back to an organised game with good communication. Training and experience will bring the newer lads on - another on debut today. A couple of defensive errors let in a couple of soft tries but we dominated for spells without being able to finish.
A good tough game marred by a very unsavoury incident near the end. The Accrington No.6 stamping the face of one of our props in the tackle. The worst thing is we all saw it, and we all saw him have a look before he stamped his foot down. Our lad was very lucky not to lose an eye, needs a stitches over the eye in couple of places, and the side of his face is blowing up black & blue.
One of the cheapest, most cowardly acts I've ever seen on an RL pitch. The prick let the rest of his team down and I'm not only angry at him, I'm embarrassed for him, just as I'm sure his team are embarrassed. Hope the book gets thrown at him because I'm 99% sure it will get taken further. He was subbed soon after, probably for his own safety - not that he ran the ball in once all game, which says a lot about him.
I think the only person not to see it was the ref.
Other than that, enjoyed it very much and good to see our new lads coming on. The rest of the Accy lads were a good bunch.
