| I really didn't like seeing her on the front bench apart from help policies she had a pouty mouth whenever the cameras were on her.

| She was very clearly unqualified and unsuitable for the position; the bigger question is, when this kind of thing happens, why aren't they immediately deselected as an MP? They've failed to meet the standards required of a minister, but we apparently set lower standards to represent a constituency? I don't suppose it's got anything to do with Mrs May's very fragile position?
Hopefully Boris Johnson will be next - his affable, comedy buffoon routine has worn distinctly thin; time for him to go too.

| you can only really be deselected for the next election, replaced by another person who can run.
She could be suspended by the party or banned by the party which would mean she was no longer a tory but would still be the MP for her constituency. It isn't up to the government to remove her as an MP but her constituants or the electoral commission could impose it if serious wrongdoing.
I am not 100% sure on all this but I think this is the case.

I believe that's the case - they end up as independents if I recall correctly.
It seems wrong that a person deemed unfit to hold high office can sit pretty (forgive the pun) until the next election though; that wouldn't happen in any other employment situation.

That is completely wrong - people get promoted to be managers it doesn't work out so they revert to the position that they were very good as before that idebtified them as possible management material.
No organisation wants to lose good people simply because a role doesn't suit their skill set

That's a fine attempt at apologising on behalf of Tory ministers - but sexually harassing someone, holding secret meetings with foreign powers, or endangering the life of a UK citizen abroad are not examples of people who have been promoted to the level of their own incompetence.

Would you say Blair endangered more or less lives of UK citizens abroad than Boris? There appears to be as many Labour MP's sexually harassing members of the other sex so I would suggest your attempt at suggest the Tories are responsible for all the ills of the world is misplaced.

And the deflecting position of the Corbynists - it all the Tories fault they behave far worse than their Labour counterparts
The problem for the left is the facts don't support their argument that the morals/abilities of the lefty MP are any better than those on the right.
As the saying goes "don't let the facts get in the way"
The lady in Iran was already in prison well before Boris opened his mouth - how did that happen?
Ivan Lewis, Clive Lewis, Kelvin Hopkins, the gentleman involved with Bex Bailey, the MPW who sadly killed himself all Labour but you consider these OK to continue in their role
I would suggest your moral compass is clouded by your politics.

| Don't over exaggerate or anything will you Sal!
Point is that Boris buggered it up and is now playing catch up but a British subject is likely to have her sentence increased because he can't remember or be bothered to read his brief.
Like his distasteful remarks about "clearing away the bodies" in Libya he's far too keen on being flippant and playing to the gallery. Not good enough for a Foreign Secretary. Had May not had Brexit to deal with he'd be nowhere near the cabinet.

Further whataboutery; try this - if I murder you, will it carry any weight if I say to the judge, "yes I did brutally murder Sal Paradise - but what about Peter Sutcliffe? Dr Harold Shipman? HITLER?!"
And fwiw, I agree that any MP who is found to have breached the ministerial code or behaved in a way that is contrary to the principles of public life should be dealt with - and I hope they all are, regardless of party affiliation.

At last
Shame you didn't say that at the outset - would you not agree. Making cheap shots at one particular party leaves you open to having to clarify your position at a later date. Would have saved us a couple of defensive/deflective posts.

Nice try - but you don't get to claim that as a win; the subject under discussion was Priti Patel, and it then moved to Johnson - you attempted to apologise for them by citing examples of Labour MP's who might be equally unfit for office, which is faulty logic, and has become so common in the modern political discourse, that it has its own descriptor; whataboutery.
So no - I haven't had to clarify my position, or be defensive; I was talking about the issue under discussion - you weren't.
