When you hear what has happened in Manchester today, do feel the death penalty should be applied in such extreme cases?

For me absolutely yes.

Define extreme - and just saying "like what happened in Manchester yesterday" will not suffice. Was what happened yesterday more "extreme" than the Birmingham or Guildford bombings? If not, there are ten people who would have been wrongly executed.

Capital punishment has buggerall to do with justice, it is all about revenge and is certainly not an indication of a civilised society. Just because some people occasionally act in an uncivilised manner is not an excuse for our legal system to follow suit.

Timoth Evans was an "extreme" case at 10 Rillington Place. He was hanged. He didn't commit any of the murders, Reg Christie did. He was hanged too for the same murders. Two men, hanged for the same crime which one committed and one did not.

Not true, he was tried for the murder of his wife, although he did admit to killing Timothy Evans wife (but not the child).

Still doesn't detract from the fact an innocent man was hanged.
