Do you not think you should have thought about that three years ago?

| Have to say I agree with Big Graeme. I know this will sound like lecturing the OP after the event but to get a decent graduate job you have to have some sort of plan early on from the time you arrive at uni, be researching the types of careers you want to go into, apply for internships or if you don't get one try to arrange some sort of work experience in your 2nd year or summer between 2nd and 3rd year etc, and then apply seriously for graduate jobs in your third year.

My mate gave away cake for donations, walked the three peaks and hosted a theme night to fund his work experience to Brazil. You could try that!
At the start of July I’m going to Ibiza at the same time as my mate’s girlfriend. She and about 20 of her mates are going after graduating from medical school so I’m getting myself fit by going to the gym every day for £10 a month (corporate membership prices). Come along with us!

Having a six pack and surrounding yourself with 20 beauties (make that 3 + 17 dogs if they're from Leeds too), doesn't make up for the fact you'll still be Damo.

| To the OP, unless you want to be a binman or shelf stacker, I'd get out of the country for at least 12 months, with a view to not coming back. Do not expect to find a job in your chosen field anytime in the future. Beats me why people/students fall for this ballacks about going to university.
welcome to the modern world.

Where do you suggest the OP goes?
He is not going to get a visa at this point as he won't have any skills to migrate. Yes he could go somewhere on a tourist visa and abscond for a while but he will never be able to get a 'proper' job while he's an illegal so he's no better off than being here.
If he goes to the EU he won't need a visa but unemployment in most European countries is higher than it is in the UK, and unless he speaks their language he will already be behind them in the job market.
For a graduate, going abroad is not a serious option for getting a job, it's a killing time/doing gap year style activities option if you go away and work in a bar/ resort etc. The only graduates who have a degree suitable for getting a job abroad straight after graduation are graduates who would have no problem getting jobs in the UK anyway.

It is a good thing and the system facilitates those that genuinely have a passion for a subject to be able to get a student loan and do it. You will get some really keen students of Archaelogy, Philosophy, English Lit etc that really love their subject and that's why they did it rather than thinking they'd get a job at the end of it, that's fair enough.
The problem is many many graduates, just went to university for a three year booze up with a halfhearted interest and commitment in their subject, and tried to cram everything in about a 3 week revision/assignment writing session before the exams and then wonder why they got a 2:2. They aren't going there for the sake of education in itself, they are going because they want an environment where they can move out of home, live with other young people, have no parents keeping an eye on them, drink lots of booze and go to parties, see if they can get lucky with the opposite sex etc.

Agreed, though I don't think that necessarily applies to the OP, as he was 25 when he started the course.
My post was actually in response to Live Wired, who said he couldn't understand why people go to university.

Yeah, because them there are technologies that are here to stay forever... The truly 'popular' degrees would never dare focus on a specific technology such as the ones quoted.
