You may be correct. I suppose when one is debating against people like Diane Abbott, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Angela Rayner, Richard Burgon, Dawn Butler, Margaret Greenwood, Andrew Gwynne, Nia Griffith and Barry Gardiner, it's quite easy to come across as a feckin' political genius.
I don't think Jeremy Corbyn is particularly stupid, but he's made a career out of being a useful idiot.

| Quote ="majorhound"Except of course had Labour won in 2015 there wouldn't have been a referendum. If there'd been another coalition (Cameron and Osborne's preferred outcome IMO) there wouldn't have been a referendum. And if the various Remain factions in the Commons can get their act together, there still may not be a Brexit. Brexit is already a disaster for the UK, if it actually happens it'll make the thirties recession seem like a picnic.'"
You may well be right and IF we do stay in the EU, we will be doing do with a small fraction of the influence that we had previously.
Had it not been for the warring factions within the Tory party and their fear of losing ground to Mr Farage, there certainly wouldn't have been a referendum but, it's difficult to imagine how much more of a mess could have been made here.
If we get out of the EU, it will be only just and if we stay in, we are a dead man walking with zero credibility.
We have Tory grandees moving their funds off shore now to protect themselves against the fall out, a real show of the faith that they have in their rulers.
All we have to look forward to is Boris and Gove, getting back into bed with each other to save the nation ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

Nor does he have much integrity. Threatened to resign 5 times. He was promoted far beyond the level of his own incompetence. He knew he would never get the chance to operate at such an influential level so put up with being played May's fool.
As least he's got more integrity than Johnson. Repeatedly betrayed his own family, betrayed his constituents over an issue he would lay down his life for, now betrayed his own leader. Classic Old Etonian narcissist.

A classic example of politicians serving their constituents and the country, not.
The vast majority of politicians do so for their own benefit and sadly, the good ones, like Jo Cox, are few and far between.

I wouldn't disagree but I guess it depends on who the dictator is. At least we might get a violent revolution to overthrow the dictatorship rather than apathy from the oppressed.

We already appear to have anarchy, it just happens to be wearing a suit this time.

| Several months ago I went to a business function/dinner, at this event were a group of senior manager/ directors I have known these people for over twenty years. One is a director of a global company based in Frankfurt, joking with them I said you will all have to up your game seeing as we are leaving the eu. To a man and woman they all laughed and said you don’t actually think we are leaving the eu do you. Well over 17 million voted to leave so I assume we are leaving was my reply. Response from them ,well we might leave in name only but we will still be in the eu in real terms. Recent events have proved them right.

Unfortunately it's not because of nefarious sabotage of the referendum results, but countries have to be part of one of the large blocs to have any chance and we just have to remain close enough to the EU's orbit to have any hope of avoiding a recession or worse and permanently damaging everyone's economic future.

Not according to Boris, Gove and Farage.

Apart from the 1%, who are unaffected by all of this stuff - you know, the hedge fund managers, offshore account holders and non-dom types; coincidentally, people like Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees-Mogg… Weird innit?

I had to smirk when Johnson in his resignation letter said Britain risked becoming a colony.

Surely that's just coincidence, it's as though you are saying that they may have a vested interest in us leaving and not so much to do with taking back control or, immigration , I cant speyk.

| I think there are far greater economic risks in the near horizon than crashing out of the EU. For example, the probable financial collapse of Italy, which would make the last credit crisis look like a minor blip. It would probably destroy the Eurozone and have enormous implications for the UK's fragile financial sector too.

Thank goodness for the Daily Express. Even Jacob Rees Smug thinks it's going to take 50 years to see any benefit but the Express have proved him wrong.
Three cheers for them and hooray for the blackshirts (Oops, that was the Mail not the Express)

So are we like the passengers on the Titanic, who not knowing the extent of the damage, or its ultimate consequences, prefer the seemingly strong and stable ship, to the risks of the lifeboats on the freezing open sea?

The telling phrase in your article is:
"The advantage of using WTO terms is the UK is not bound by EU rules or committed to agree to its red tape and regulations"
Yes, that bothersome EU red tape and regulation, ensuring such annoyingly unnecessary things as food safety, consumer protection, working regulations and dispute resolution; who needs all that nonsense getting in the way?
