Anyway, the Lumix had it's first outing last weekend when we went to see The Overtones at Blackpool Operal House. I'm still getting my head around it at the moment and it came with very limited handbook. Missed my Canon if I'm honest for capturing the fast movement and differing light changes - I got a few blurry shot

I did, however, get a few decent ones, this one, while not being perfect, was my favourite of the night

Feel the need to bump this thread as I miss seeing people's photos!

This is my lad playing yesterday. Nothing unusual in that you may think, until you know only 12 hours prior to this he literally couldn't stand after celebrating a little too well at his 18th birthday party!!

Very nice, where abouts in Durham. I am up there in two weeks for a short break and might go and have a look myself.

Indeed it is High Force, well worth a visit. We stayed in Middleton-in-Teesdale, it's a beautiful area we intend to visit again

Seeing those waterfall pics reminds me of something.

What's people's opinions on the best way to do water shots? Personally, I prefer to see a snapshot of action and movement with a fast shutter speed, rather than the more typical "smoothed out" way (as per the shots above). I appreciate that to get a good depth of field for a landscape shot, a longer shutter speed and wider aperture are sometimes needed, and it's all personal preferences. However the "accepted" way to do it seems to always be a long exposure, losing the dramatic "frozen action" shot.

Interested to hear opinions of both methods!
