Ooh, you've got me all interested now because a former colleague of mine has two restaurants over there. It wasn't called No Patio or No Patio Vas was it? Long shot I know but as you mentioned it

Why isn't Milliband on that page, or Kinnock, or Prescott?
it suits the looney left to pillory the right, but they won't expose their own.'"
Because it was the current Tory PM who was showing hypocracy on a massive scale.
It hardly surprising then for it to be other Tories in the firing line.
Surely even a Tory nut like you can see the logic there?

| Quote: Standee "no thanks, I'm quite happy to have confidence in my opinion, and not to be a bore like you.'"
Or roughly translated you don't want to risk finding out that your opinion is in conflict with the facts. Typical of you.
Quote: Standee "I'll leave the usual sanctamonious prats to it, Sin Bin never changes, blah blah blah, anyone with a bit of cash should pay for me being useless, pay for my kids education and look after me, afterall, they were all born into it, none of them have earned it on merit.
sad, sad envious bunch of people.'"
When you want your dummy back let me know. It went whizzing past my ear but I think I saw where it landed.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

I think you're probably a bit butch to pull that look off successfully, but fair play for giving it a go.

| Frankly, I'm disappointed that Jimmy Carr felt the need to apologise. It's not like he's routing all his income through his tax exiled wife and then having the cheek to advise the Government on saving money.

| After reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that Standee may also be using the K2 tax scheme.
He also steals chalk from primary schools to 'get his money back'.
Seriously though, we live in a welfare state where we're all expected to contribute, via our taxes, to help provide for societys most vulnerable. If a person doesn't want to comply with that concept, then the UK isn't the place for you to be trading.
As said previously, it comes down to pure greed, and it's this greed that annoys the rest of us who pay our way.

| The key issue that someone alluded to above, is that bankers, comedians and even Standee can attribute a large part of any success they have to the fact that they are based in a stable political and social environment. One which needs a government to provide the flower bed from which they can grow and flourish and one that provides the manure (eg an educated workforce) to assist that growth. All those things need paying for, via taxation. This is something market fundamentalists forget or chose to ignore as they start to attribute their success to their ability alone. The question is would Fred Goodwin or AN Other Hedgie be so wealthy and egotistical if they'd been born in Angola 50 years ago? No. So, to people who want to take and never give I say you are just mind numbingly stupid scum.

| Jimmy Carr could try telling us that if he has to pay tax, like rest of us, he won't be as funny and he'll eventually have to move to a country that doesn't ask him to pay tax and be funny there.

Can I assume you are using the right words, but not necessarily in the right order?
It's interesting that you equate an educated workforce with the word manure. Fertiliser might have been a better choice of words.
But perhaps that says something about you.

It was a sarcastic analogy aimed at another poster who has demostrated utter contempt for many human beings.

| They're not all the same
In 2006, Dyson contributed £9m of the £14.7m that was paid by the 54 billionaires in the UK at the time.
As for Rowling, in completely contrary attitude to Standee's, she said"A second reason was that I am indebted to the welfare state... When my life hit rock bottom, that safety net, threadbare though it had become under John Major, was there to break the fall." [/i
