Further information guys
Introduction
Thank you for entering the 2009 Supporters Direct Rugby League Challenge Cup. On the following pages you will find all of the information you need to know to make your day as enjoyable and successful as possible.
Please read this carefully and if you do have any further questions afterwards, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Venue
The Challenge Cup is being held at the Soccer Village in Milnrow, near Rochdale. The address for the venue is:
The Soccer Village
Birchinley Manor
Wildhouse Lane
Milnrow
Lancashire
OL16 3TW
The Soccer Village is located approximately 1 mile from junction 21 of the M62, overlooking Hollingworth Lake.
Leave the M62 at Junction 21 and take the exit from the roundabout for Elizabethan Way. At the first set of traffic lights, turn right towards Milnrow. After 100 yards, take a left up Kiln Lane at the mini roundabout. This road deviates to the left into Wildhouse Lane. The Soccer Village is situated on the right hand side, opposite the Bella Vista restaurant.
The venue has ladies and gents changing rooms although we would recommend not leaving valuables unattended.
Plenty of free car parking is available on site.
Matches
All 3 pitches to be used on the day are indoors and in full view of the bar and grandstand seating area.
Teams will be split into two pools at random and each pool will play round robin matches to decide on placings. Once the group games are complete, these placings will be used to decide which final you will be playing in from the Cup, Shield, Plate and Vase.
All matches will be 15 minutes long with breaks in between and the warm up pitch will be available throughout the afternoon. Teams must be 5-a-side with 2 females on the field at all times. Minimum age for players is 16 years old. The maximum squad size is 10.
All matches will be played under the enclosed RFL TAG Rugby League Laws (subject to the listed changes).
Each player will receive a food voucher which will be handed out on the day to team captains/managers. This voucher can be exchanged for a food at any point throughout the afternoon although we would recommend waiting until the conclusion of the matches!
Matches are scheduled to begin at 1.00pm and conclude at 4.15pm. The warm-up pitch will be available from 12.30pm.
Presentations
Following the conclusion of the matches, there will be drinks and presentations in the bar from 4.30pm.
First Aid
There will be two St John’s Ambulance first-aiders on site throughout the afternoon should you have any requirements.
Refreshments
The bar will be open throughout the afternoon for drinks. The venue also has a carvery and people without food vouchers are free to purchase food should they wish to.
