Looking at our current squad, when fully fit next year, we will have 25 players age of 21 or over, this means 8 will not be able to get into the first team on a weekly basis.

This will create a bit of a problem for us though as the reserve competition has been scrapped in favour of an under 20s comp where teams can only feature 3 players over the age of 20.

The problem here is that the 3 lads to play are most likely going to be the 3 lads next in line for a first team spot in order to keep them match fit. Meaning that the only way the few at the bottom of the pile are going to get game time is if we send them out on loan.

There are 6 guys who regularly switched between first and reserve grade last year; Riley, Grix, McCarthy, Mitchell, Penny and Blythe.

How would we deal with that this year? Try sending some on season long loans to Salford or Celtic, keeping them in SL?

Or set up one of them dual register deals with a championship side? Widnes would be the obvious club, but from what I have read in the past (few posts on the Wigan forum) it seems Ian Lenagan is hopeful of Wigan partnering with them, I am not entirely sure but I think you can only partner with 1 club?

Rumour has it Penny is coming to Widnes for a bit next seaosn.

riley was first team all year apart from when he got dropped against leeds for carney who then got injured.

i can see blythe + penny going out on loan, not sure about the rest

Just send a few of the younger lads who aren't getting a game, on monthly loans to our feeder club Widnes.

Maybe they could just wait until we have an injury crisis, I know its unlikely but surely one of these years we'll have one

You can't win with some people it seems....They either moan the squad is too small, or start to gripe its too big.

Seriously, with a strong 25 man squad, you suddenly find yourself with the possible luxury of maybe even a little bit of squad rotation and the chance to rest a few players with knocks, who in previous years would have had to play on through the pain barrier.
