| thats what made it all so sweeter.
but enough of that.perhaps a double header at the keepmoat might not be a bad idea.

| Quote: Rob-Donny "why will it Liam? we had the same 2 years ago, the keepmoat pitch was in a really bad state and had to be relaid.
we played several of our games at Featherstone. Although the loss of finance by playing away from the town was crippling, which is probably your main concern if you have to play outside sheffield.
im more surprised the RFL didnt step in when you asked to switch the tie earlier in the season to a home game. they have done before and should have done this time, and then you wouldnt have the mess.
Im sure Donny now put in to the rfl any time scales when the pitch is being reseeded to avoid being given a home game (i might be wrong though)'"
IIRC you need to have a lease in place for a certain length of time as part of the licensing criterea, think its 10 years to be honest, Fax had to get that sorted with the council for their bid.

| Aston in today's league express said we can't play at Donny. Wish we could take it too somewhere like Chesterfield or something.
Something to think about now incase next year we are in the same boat. I'm Sure if it was in the footy off-season and marketed well to Chesterfield footy fans at one of their games then we'd get a good turnout!

| Apparently the local hunt is meeting in ESO's garden, otherwise we could have played there.

| Saltergate's still standing, but I assume the safety certificate is long gone!
If we went there we could pretend is was 1967 and have contested scrums and 5m defensive lines.

| Latest news from the Dewsbury site ....
"Dewsbury Rams would like to let supporters know that the details regarding their away fixture against Sheffield Eagles, scheduled to be played on Sunday 5th June, are still unknown to the club.
"We were infomed some time ago by the RFL that the match must be played on the scheduled date, and that we would be informed in due course of the venue.
"However, due to the incompetence of Sheffield Eagles in being able to secure a venue to play the match in the six months since the fixtures were released, we are unfortunately still in the dark on the matter with less than two weeks to go until the scheduled date.
"It is unfortunate that we are in this situation with such a short time to go until the match, but perhaps we should have been expecting such a thing since this fixture seems to encounter problems every season."
Bit harsh !

Not really, You have had all season to sort it out and this year the fixtures are totally FUBAR due to this, Not your fault regarding the ground needing to be relayed or whatever but the club has had plenty of time to arrange the fixtures and get a venue in place.
The shay could be used i beleive as we are playing on Thursday, just i idea, but saying that neither club have enough traveling fans so would cost Sheffield a pretty penny.

Can't fault them to be fair!!
Re: Saltergate, the only away end I've ever been in where the toilet facilities were literally a wall with a solitary sink, and if you needed a number two, well you were in bother
Good job the toilets had no roof because they absolutely stank anyway. It would have been the 7th level of hell in there with a roof on.
It almost sounds like I'm nostalgic for it. No I'm not. The new stadium is fantastic (for the size of club, not compared to the Sheffield grounds) and was needed for ages. For me, it's a good example of why we have to have ground criteria in rugby league.
