in contrast to that, it was the best day of my life. Starting off weeks before in preparation! We made hats, decorated massive sheets, got a variety of facepaints and when the day came we put it all together and got on our way. I didn't drink much as I was so nervous.
Sat in the stadium and was in awe, it was our day! When Nick Pinkney scored, I wanted to believe we could win, but it was early days and my God it wasn't until 5 mins before the end I started believing it. Then the hooter went, the tears started to flow and all my thoughts went to the club n players, back then we knew them all, seriously. For Sheffield Eagles this day was a day that will b remembered for ever, unlike Wigan who practically lived at Wembley, we would probably never be there again! We came, we saw and we conquered! Unfortunately the events for the club that followed were not what I expected.
Enjoy your day at BL and may the underdogs win!'"
Reading something like that, even as a massive wigan fan, actually makes a part of my quite glad you won that day. I was a devistated kid at wembley when you beat us, but it actually did me well to find out we werent invincible at wembley - for me it would have just been another final in the memory to add to the other 6 id seen us win there, where as for you guys it was so much more.
Glad to see theres still so much passion for RL in sheffield even after the RFL stabbed you in the back and stole your team.
I said on Saturday, Knighthoods/ MBEs etc. are often given out all to easily (for say kicking a drop goal/ winning a european cup
) and not earned while the real heros get overlooked. What Mark Aston has done for RL and RL in Sheffield is astounding and that man should be given a knighthood but probably never will. A true hero.
I hope you can keep all the fans that turned us for our game yesterday and one day get back in SL. You bring alot more to the party than some currently in the SL and I hope to one day see you back.
