I hate the attendance debate but I actually think halifaxjohn has a point, that following was pitiful even by our standards. To say we won the Championship last year, too. The Fax fans weren't much better, think they counted everyone twice to get to 1500. Atmosphere was as flat as the game too.

Thought defensively we were excellent, Fax should've been out of sight with all the possession they had on our line. Attacking wise we looked largely clueless, especially on the 5th. Lost count of the amount of times we didn't kick and lost possession.

The pitch was a disgrace too. Definitely resembled a ploughed field more than a rugby surface.

Take the failure point and move on.

That's the friendly out of the way anyway, the real stuff starts next week!

I keep saying it but the season's too long. We shouldn't be starting in January. Everybody said the Northern Rail games were poorly attended because the format was wrong. I'm tipping February attendances won't be that much better this year.

My view is the season should run from March through to November.

I thought we did Okay last night,Defence was excellent but we wouldnt have to had been that good if we wern't constantly giving penalties, knockons, missed touch once with our own penalty,All these in our own half gifting Halifax territory,A few tweaks here and there and we could have won that last night,Shows how far weve come when a 6 out of 10 performance could easily have been turned into a win against one of the strongest in the competition away and without having a friendly.

Yeah, you're right. But that would have to include the international season so the domestic season would have to end mid-October at the latest.

Quite a few regulars either couldn't get out of work early and some watched it on tv. Judging by the amount of space we had on the terrace I suspect some Fax supporters did the same.

Good defence by us, shame we did so much of it though. Not the best start but not a disaster.

My last post on this subject.
Forgive me if it's a little shaky but I have had the most disturbing day imaginable, yes you've guessed it, five hours in Lancashire. You probably don't know how upsetting that is, probably the only thing you southern softies could compare it with is five hours in Chesterfield.
Any way I thought I would wait until westriding eagle and eagleblade 11 got home from detention, really boys you shouldn't write such rubbish in your school breaks.
Just a point eagleblade11, if you thought there were a of blue chairs at the game last night, next time you have a maths lesson, divide the capacity at the Shay by last nights 1500 and then the capacity at Bramhall Lane by your attendance and then consider your statement again.
Any way, ESO, Hillsborough lad, some very good comments, we were disappointed with our crowd. The first game of the season against the current champions should have brought a bigger crowd. We can't blame television as I don't know any one who has premier sports.
Before the game we remarked how low the crowd was and we estimated it from many past games as approx 1500, I honestly believe that was the correct figure. Griff as an accountant would probably confirm that a club has no advantage over inflating it's crowd. (apart from when Super League instruct you to, i.e against Batley so that they can say we qualify for SL before rejecting us).
Yes I will concede the pitch was poor, please remember however up here we have snow, it took 2 days to clear the pitch and last night was the first dry night for weeks. FCHalifaxdonkeys played the night before and our limited resources mean that we can't employ a vast ground staff like Sheffield United do.
Griff, those buckets at the entrance were not to supplement gate receipts, please read:
www.halifaxrlfc.co.uk/article.php?id=10395.
Over the last two years a small dedicated team have raise over £40,000 to support what was to be our under 23's and under 20's and is now due to the RFL just our under 20's.
In my humble opinion, we were the better side last night and considering the possession we had should have scored more I thought your defence was superb, we both have good packs, what we at Fax lack is a good halfback, As for you I would respectfully suggest that Bambini is a little past it.
As someone said "wait for the return" I personally am looking forward to the game but regretfully not the ground or the atmosphere, something needs to be done. Gates in our League are falling (apart from Fev) and none of us can let them slip further.
Well that's my tupence, o'h was it westriding eagle who told me to stop upsetting people on "your" forum? Griff explain to him in words of one syllable what you do on ours and also explain what a gingdong is.
So to ESO, Hillsbro' lad and Griff have a good season. I am confident that despite dual reg, Eagles, Fax, Fev and Leigh will be setting the standards, to westridingeagle and eagleblade11, lighten up, eat your greens, wash behind your ears and night night don't let the bed bugs bite.

You were the better side no doubt, but I fear Fev/Leigh would've beat either of us comfortably on last night's showing. Lets put it down to early season cobwebs and move on!

Yer it was a poor crowd we don't deny that but sadly you lot don't pull in those floating fans plus I was surprised how few came up with you being Champions (this is not a dig but I did think more would have come honest) it was one of your worst followings in Halifax ever about a dozen came!
Thursdays does knock the crowds that is a fact, I like having the weekend free but Sundays are best for RL crowds always.

Yes poor crowd from both of us. Could blame the TV and cold night but could be partly because summer rugby has made us all soft we want a nice warm night and some beer funny how times change there was a time that loads would turn out because it was winter and getting out would relieve the winter blues
