You must mean the blatant one by henderson I think on Mcnally which the ref missed. I think the one you are talking about is probably the one that didn't actually make contact but you did kick the resultant penalty which was awarded for it. Oh and as for the attendance by sheffield fans which people are being polite about, well it was embarrassing. So tell me how exactly do you pay and house the south sea islanders and aussies.

| For me, both teams played their part in an exciting final. And to Eagles fans - two successive defeats may be hard to swallow, but neither of them affected your league position - at the top!

| Quote: Tin Can Dribbler "Two turning points for me. The sendings off the first and the second was at 8 points up in the second half, Q elected to go himself instead of passing to the two unmarked players on his right and at 14 points in the lead things would have been different. Q redeemed himself passing to the right where he was penalised by a man in a blue top who then changed his mind and allowed us to play on despite momentum being lost, resulting in an interception.
Too many mistakes in key areas.
Well done to the Lathers who adapted better in the last quarter.'"
I agree with most of that having just watched the game again. But we are Leythers not Lathers.
I must say however you have a good pack and an even better backline at 16 24 I was thinking the worst but some bad errors in the last 20 mins gave us the game.
PS Who do you think us Leythers will play in the Grand Final ?

Didn't see the Q incident very well from the Skircoate Stand and even on the tv it doesn't show up well. A very from t'back o't'sticks would've been nice.

| Incidentally, did anyone notice how the sticks at the North end kept closing up ? Very strange. A bloke came out and fixed them before Leigh kicked towards that end but by the time we kicked that way they'd closed up again. Never seen that before.

| I agree that the turning point was the sendings off, but I think a factor arising from them came because we lost a forward, Leigh lost a back. Coming just before the last quarter of a hard-fought (in more ways than one) match, it meant that our forwards had more work to do, got more tired and weren't able to give the half backs as much room to create. That combined with yet more poor ball control allowed Leigh to build an in-the-end deserved victory.
One of my three non-regular companions commented as we came in that he thought posts were supposed to be parallel. I also thought that refreshment bars usually stocked up before a match so they didn't run out of everything. Perhaps the Shay ought to pull their socks up if they host another final - it's becoming a niceish ground otherwise.

Exactly. Like swapping a pawn for a queen at chess.

Is that a lame excuse for defeat?

After watching the game yesterday on Premier Sports , I would call Ste Maden a "Queen ", or even Higgins a "Pawn ", more like a PRAWN Charlie told you the Leigh forwards were FAR superior to the seagulls ,and we just UNPLUGGED THE JUKEBOX .

| Quote: peawapp "A tremendous match indeed ,very enjoyable Mr Maden must learn to rein in His temper a little better, but He certainly sorted Higgins out with a flurry of punches all of which landed, definitely the turning point was the return to the field of Parker and Hopkins, enjoyed the drink in dirty dick's and a good chat with E.S.O.
Good to meet you peawapp.
Pretty much as everyone else has said, turning point was the sending off, Leigh managed much better than 12 than we did. Also Q's brainfart not to pass the ball on a 3 man overlap which would have given us a 14 point lead.
Two really disappointing defeats, still pretty gutted. Just hope a very good season with a lot of tremendous work isn't beginning to unravel.
