I would settle for that if it means keeping the Eagles in Sheffield. Better playing in an athletics stadium (what we have been doing for 20 plus years) than not playing in Sheffield at all.

I'll second that,

From todays star

"On a possible move to Woodbourn Aston added: “Ask the council? It’s been turned into an athletics stadium.

“Everything has to be an option or we are going out of the city."

The full piece here www.thestar.co.uk/sport/other-sp ... -1-6028089

But it looks like bawtry road fell through because "To play Championship games there would have involved building a 500-seater temporary stand and turnstiles."

Is it just me or won't there be plenty of seats and turnstiles from DVS? or has the council already got someone ready to buy them?

My thoughts exactly.

My son in law has suggested the Sheffield FC ground as a possibility,

Not long enough. The pitch won't fit on it. Absolute non-starter.

Hallam Uni will/have be taking over the running of Woodbourn Road so we should be speaking to them !!! as we have close relationship with them surely we can come to some sort of arrangement I might pop in on the way to the game on sunday to check what state it is in.

Re Don Valley I would image that the contract for the demolition would be won by a reclamation company they would probably charge a small fee for demolition however get to reclaim anything of value like seats and metals anyway they are attached to concrete so would be difficult to make a temp stand with

They don't need to meet particularly demanding criteria.

I may be saying something that's already been looked into but what about Handsworth Football club,They have there own ground on olivers mount,Very basic but it is a ground (Not like St Marys),Has it's own clubhouse,Very small stand,Nowere near the 500 limit,Just wondering if it has been looked into,As it stands it wouldn't be upto scratch,But would only need a temporary seating off 500 and theres plenty off places to stand close to the pitch,If the council is willing to help then that is the only stumbling block,Decent location near to the Don Valley ground,Im sure Handsworth arnt a very rich club and the council in building a stand would be doing both teams a favour and im sure Handsworth would also appreciate another income stream in the Eagles playing there,Just a thought.

You're right, it has been looked in to.

Not suitable.

The trouble with non-league soccer grounds is that they're very likely to be less than the required 110 yards minimum length.

There's a group appealing to keep DVS open and run it independently. I believe the outcome will be revealed on September 26.

I have just looked on their website the petition only has 18 signatures !! Hopefully they can find a way to keep the DVS open but i cant see how they could generate income to pay the running costs and it is looking a little bit run down and will need refurbish work which will cost money
