Just been reading about the 1997 World Cup Challenge on Wiki whose bright idea was that !! apparently the competition lost 5 million and it must have played havoc with the league schedule interesting to note we got 3K and 2.5k for our 2 home matches i wonder what our away following was for those two away matches !!!

That was you was it Charlie - first time I've seen someone ejected from a RL match and you deserved it - maybe it should have been a life time ban - well lets make it one now . Charlie you can never go to Don Valley Stadium again for the rest of your life - well ok you can watch the playoffs - but then you're banned! ( Actually I think I told the stewards to chuck you out! or maybe not 20 years is a long time)

My best memory of DVS is nothing to do with Sheffield Eagles. It is of my grandson Charlie (who carried the Olympic Torch through Clifton Park, Rotherham last year) sprinting down the home straight as though his a*se was on fire in a 3K Fun Run in 2009 (ish) to come in 8th overall and then trip up. He is convinced he was pushed but he wasn't. I just wish I had a photograph to show the look on his face when he got up.
