We have had a great 5 years

2011 4th 12-8 Lost Grand Final
2012 4th 12-1-5 Won Grand Final
2013 2nd 22-4 Won Grand Final
2014 5th 16-10 "owlerton Factor" Poor Year
2015 3rd 17-6 Super 8's won 2 matches

However this year being a full time side i expected us to improve but no chance we are in the relegation zone !!! hopefully we will survive but i would not put any money on it we still have 13 games to play (including the minus 8's or whatever it is called !!) so theres lot to play for but with our poor defence we are definitely in the relegation fight

Is it just me that thinks our downfall is very similar to leeds this year luckily for them they have the crowds and money so can regroup quite easily however for us this will be the last year that the likes of QLT Yere Worincy and our full time players will need to regroup next year hopefully still in the Championship but with 2 big questions no 1 does Mark Aston fancy rebuilding a new eagles side hopefully but would be a good opportunity for him to move and will we have a new stadium !!!

I watched your game against Fax at the week end as a neutral fan ,I can honestly say that is the WORST Sheff side I have seen for years, most of your players didn't look interested, Aston was laughing and joking with the Fax fans in the Stand, you have big problems at the moment , what they are I don't know but I would be worried if I was a Sheff fan.To your credit your fans were a very vocal bunch,I applaud them, when Wheldon was subbed he looked happy to be coming off, but you have problems.Charlie knows.

Charlie,
I have just seen this and courtesy of the admin.staff I am finally back. It's been a long wait.

I sincerely thank you for that.I have taken a risk in replying to you because that is why I was banned, back in November.

Staying on thread. End of an era? Nah.Still on course for The Championship Shield.Bit of silverware to carry into the new stadium.

2 members of the squad not only played in the final last year but scored tries.

Playing in that final last year hasn't done London Broncos too much harm.

Once again,Charlie.Sincere thanks.Top man. a014.gif icon_thumb.gif

Nothing to thank me for mate, I think a bit of common sense was used, and I applaud all the Administration folk eusa_clap.gif like most on these Forums you are just a Fan who loves his Club, loves a bit of banter ,and won't let others run his Club down,I get on great with most Fans but at times I have received a bit of stick, water of a ducks back.
It's great to see you back, I sincerely want to see Sheff now start winning and start climbing the table. Welcome back. icon_thumb.gif

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=596206

The above has been posted on the Bradford bulls forum. If true, it rather explains why you guys are struggling as a full time club. This shows the dangers of relying totally on one investor, no matter how sincere their intentions. I really do hope that a 'true' investor can come along and put you back on the front foot, and that your new stadium is soon up and running, to give you the security you need.

Meanwhile, thank goodness for Ian Swire and his good wife!

And the news gets worst Ian Swire will be stepping down at the end of the season so there is every chance that this could be our last season !! With no crowds and no funding we can't continue as we are especially as full time side I cant really blame the players too much they know that they will need to find another club next season. I am shocked we have not had any offers for some of our players. If you were told at your workplace that in 3 months you will probably be losing your job with no payoff would you work hard and be committed to your employers I doubt it !!

Unfortunately the future is not bright just hoping funding can be found so we can continue next season i dont even care if we are relegated it might be easier to regroup in a lower division

I don't expect any offers for our players,Duggs,as most of the youngsters are on 2/3 years contracts.
They've done very well, given the background situation,as you point out.

Ian Swire has paid until the end of the season and I believe contracts end/start in November.

There is more positive news from John Whaling this morning - now shown on the website.

I disagree with you about dropping into League 1.Remaining in The Championship will give a far better opportunity, and scope,to entice new investment.

The new stadium and the opportunities it offers, are also well-timed.

EAGLES OPTIMISTIC OVER NEW STADIUM & FUTURE
By Matt Young | 14/06/2016
Sheffield Eagles are still on course to move to their new stadium at the Olympic Legacy Park next season, despite chairman Ian Swire’s decision to move on after 17 years.
...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Angelic Cynic,

Firstly to say I'd like to see the Eagles going well, having worked in the city for longer than I care to remember.

However having past the "Olympic Legacy Park" site yesterday I don't see any evidence of of the stadium being built, but then I have been accused of being blinkered and short sighted in the passed icon_smile.gif

If this is truly the case (that the new stadium hasn't been started), then I don't see how it is realistic for it to be in place in the next 8 months for a start of the 2017 season come February 2017. Is there more details elsewhere that is not on the Eagles website detailing the progress of the new stadium?

I am relying on my memory here but am at an age where memory can play tricks on me so if I have this wrong then I apologise.

When the club was reformed in 1999, I think it was envisaged that the Articles of Association would specify that no one person could own more than 15% of the club's shares. This was, if I have this right, to avoid a majority shareholder running the club his/her way. What happened there then?

Also, was nothing learned from the Featherstone Rovers fiasco of a few years ago when the person who was bankrolling the club pulled out? Did we have a Plan B ready in case Plan A fell through?

Like FevGrinder I pass the site of the proposed new ground quite frequently and see very little activity so I have reservations about the new stadium. I take anything Richard Caborn says about when it will be ready with a huge pinch of salt. I look forward to being proved wrong.

Fev Grinder,
Thanks for expressing the wish that you would like us to do well.

You may not have seen the area set aside for the development because you have not had the opportunity to get inside the club office at the UTC.You can visit there to purchase a replica shirt as worn by the team at the Summer Bash.

There is also some very snazzy white plastic exterior around the site which shows both basketball and rugby league players and the club crest.

It looks like March 2017 is when it will be up and running.Possibly with hired seating being necessay, to this time run along the side of the pitch.

It may mean playing the first few games away from home.

It is probably best to follow the Olympic Legacy Park Twitter account.Club communication is a little distant from perfect;but they may be relying on the former Labour MP.

Grey Beard,

I don't think the investor (previous investor) was a shareholder. The board seemed content to allow him to contribute over the years.

It seems planning ahead may have been overlooked while all eyes were on the new stadium.

Please excuse me while I return to my previous state of Weltschmerz until I attend Sale to see how we get on v Swinton.

Not been a very good few days. icon_neutral.gif

Yes, he was a shareholder. The Articles were changed. Always an option, of course. Nothing's for ever, is it ?
