I have not been able to see any matches this season because I work on Friday nights and Saturday Afternoons so I can really comment on the new players but they appear to be worse than the players that have left the club we have had glimpses of good form H v Halifax A v Leigh A v Bradford 2nd half A v Wakefield but we seem to be still making mistakes and very inconsistent. Top 4 position is highly unlikely to be honest we are leaking so many points in the last 11 matches we have conceded at least 20 points at an average of appx 30 a game that is a defence of Relegation Candidates we are not to big a club to go down and although I don't think we will be relegated I am keeping an eye on Whitehaven Workington Swinton and Oldham.
So where do we go now ? we will get f*** all prize money this season so I cant see how we can be a 100% full time side next season I would say blood some of the youngsters but hang on we have disbanded the reserve/youth team !!! with toulose likely to be a leading team next season unfortunately it is the end of an era and the future is not very bright
A lot was made by the club of moving back to Sheffield. I don't think that many of us, certainly I didn't, of the chosen venue being out on a limb, almost Rotherham indeed, and let's be honest, spectator facilities are to put it kindly, almost as bad as Owlerton. For us (my wife and I) it didn't take us that much longer to drive to the Keepmoat last season. The main drawback was the late kick off which more or less killed off our Sunday dinner with our family.
I do not have much faith in the new stadium actually being built in whatever time I have left on this planet. Maybe the club could consider decamping once again, to Abbeydale which has a small stand but room for the temporary stands at SHU sports club (one of which is nearly always empty). I have a vested interest here as I can walk to Abbeydale.
I think that we would all welcome a statement of intent from the club as to how it is going to move forward.
Oh yes I had forgotten that. Thanks for reminding me. I am only suggesting Abbeydale because it is geographically near to where I live lol. I have no idea how many it holds.
I am not sure that the move to SHU was such a great decision - it would be slightly better if we could play on a Saturday or Sunday. I was chating to someone on the opening day who had to leave earlier due to there being no public transport after nine thirty.
All hinges on the new ground. Perhaps we should have gone full time the same time we moved in.
