It would depend which exit you use at Meadowhall! Although 30 minutes is very conservative, you've got to cross a very busy motorway junction which isn't ideal. There is a bus from meadowhall...every hour.

The closest pubs to the ground are the Fairways and the Three Magpies which are just over the border in Rotherham. It's less than 10 mins walk from those two pubs. Both pubs serve food too. Fairways is slightly more expensive. And there will be beer available at the ground/shed/field/dump/cesspit (delete as you prefer).
