Do the Council for British fast food have a salary cap on take-aways expenditure on wages? Is there such a thing as an ineligible waiter?
The RFL were supposed to be vetting the Crusaders salary cap and yet the players seem to have been paid for non-existent jobs at Samuel's company and gave their services to Crusaders for free.
If the RFL were aware that this was the case then they are complicit and if they weren't then their policing of the salary cap is a joke.
Not to mention that they are supposed to make sure that players are eligible to play for the club that they represent.
and your point is they have been deported for working some additional hours somewhere?? the salary cap... to quote the parrot sketch ..dont enter into it!
but im loving this thred now they are being deported for not playing rugby!!!!
pm starbuck he thinks its espionage, i mean get bruce willis on board and die hard 5 will be the greatest rl movie ever

It's not.
The RFL don't employ Crusaders players but they are supposed to check that sums paid to players actually have been paid and there is no funny business with money being paid "under the table".
If Dekor were paying the players rather than Crusaders then this makes a mockery of the salary cap.
Why can't JJB pay Wigan players and then Warriors can sign who they want and pay them what they want?

And the salary cap has nothing whatsoever to do with the Borders Agency.'"
On the contrary, it seems that players were being paid by somebody other than their club.

Given that Francis Meli had a few problems getting back into this country earlier this year are you suggesting that Eamon did not get his lawyer to assist mr Meli in sorting out the problem and that he did not at any time speak to the RFL on the subject ?
" Sorry Francis , you're on your own son "

Yes, I know I could! I'm not saying I couldn't! But nor am I [iassuming[/i that the club is guilty of something before the investigations have been completed! You and many others on here have already judged the club guilty of a criminal act by assuming they have had a hand in what has happened. My mind is open. It could be solely the players or the players and the club. But why be so negative? Why jump to negative conclusions?
It's all bitterness and petty jealousy and very embarrassing for the rest of rugby league to witness.

Err no my point is that a work permit entitles you to work for a particular employer and it doesn't allow you to seek employment elsewhere.
If they were employed by Dekor then they ought to have been working for Dekor and playing amateur rugby. The problem is that they were (theoretically) employed by Dekor or on student visas yet playing professional sport which they had no legal right to do.

I would be very surprised that that happened not least because this is Meli's third season with us so he well knows the procedure by now. I'm sure he took legal advice in his own country given that the rules changed while he was home for Christmas but at the end of the day it was Meli's responsibility to fill in the forms, truthfully and correctly, and no-one else's.

It might if the RFL were paying players to play for their own clubs.

Too right we're bitter and jealous, they stole a place in SL that should have gone, IMO, to Widnes (not my home town Leigh note).
