| Quote: wackerchemic "There are a lot on here blaming the board both old & new which has most likely contributed to Cru's downfall but they are not soley to blame.
The RFL fast tracked them yes, to soon? Probably but the warning about their ground etc meant they had to move & lose the fan base they had.
We all know if you don't get them through the turnstiles you will never have the money needed to compete.
It's all ifs & buts but imo they may have been better staying in south Wales with the fanbase they had & building on that maybe moving to a football or rugby union ground down there.
If they hadn't made the grade for a sl licence then at least they would be able to field a team in the lower leagues, which at present looks uncertain to say the least.'" Yes, the board are solely to blame. Staying in the South was not an option, the club needs owners and the only buyers were in the North. Moss and Roberts saved the club, but then turned out to be just as bad as the previous owners.

| Did you ever think that Moss and Roberts might have been sold a pup by the rfl? The three wise monkeys at the rfl seem to be good at painting the big picture, but very poor at the implementation or clear and effective direction. I'm sure they will delight in the blame being pointed at Moss and Roberts as it takes the focus off thier own shortcomings. From my reading of events I would say all Moss and Roberts are guilty of is niavity, which for businessmen is in itself very poor. I hope you keep the club going in some form, but from the outside I have to say it looks bleak.

| Quote: headhunter "Yeah, had the administration been competent in the first place there was no reason it couldn't have been a success. Equally, had the Wrexham administrators been competent then there was no reason that it couldn't have been a success in the North. Playing for three more years in the Championship wouldn't have changed anything, it's nothing to do with speed of entry and everything to do with diabolical administration, the club have been extremely unlucky in that the owners in both the North and the South have been crooks. You are a buffoon.'"
The fact that Crusaders ended up being run by poor administrators isn't entirely unrelated to them being "fast tracked" into SL when they clearly weren't ready.
Playing in NL1 / CC for another three years may not have got the club up to SL standards but at least the club would probably be lining up for another season in 2012 at Bridgend (which they are unlikely to be doing in any form now). I know the argument that Samuels would have walked away but he did anyway and the main reason why a Bridgend based consortium couldn't rescue the club was the SL debts.
I feel sorry for the fans but to say that some of them were hopelessly naive is putting it mildly. The usual idiots made Cru's admission to SL into a "expansionists vs evil inbred flatcappers" and too many Cru fans bought into this stupidity.

| How easy would it be to build a new club to a level where it met all criteria without the additional exposure that being in Super League vs being in the Championship brings?

Who knows but at least they would have had a Championship side.
Now there is nothing.
Scorpions might still be around but they've got to cope with the aftermath of the Crusaders and the negativity that they have generated.

| Sad to say, but I think this is the end for Crusaders and a major set back for Welsh Rugby League. The fact is the owners have killed us. They wouldn't have suddenly realised that they couldn't finance the club, with going into administration too, they would have known months ago. They had options to not apply in the first place and plan ahead and make the club sustainable in the Championship, looked for a new investor before submitting an application to help finance the club, take a risk and get a licence and then look to sell the club, with the incentive to investors of owning a Super League club with a bright future and a lot of prospect. Instead, they have run us into the ground and in my opinion, given the Crusaders no future and to have to fold.
There was so much prospect with Crusaders. I don't think we were put in Super League too early. We've done very well to develop the game as we have done and increase participation to the amount we have. Despite going into administration and crowds dropping, we had achieved and thought off enough things to be able to cope in Super League. Despite all this, I think there are that many people who are willing to make Rugby League work in the whole of Wales, we will continue to develop young players and introduce as many new teams as possible. I really don't think we'd be able to cope in the Championship however. Despite the long way we've come, the structure and establishment isn't strong enough to cope with the huge difference between Super League and the Championship. No disrespect to Championship teams, but playing against Batley, Featherstone, Leigh etc doesn't attract people to games as playing Saints, Warrington, Wigan etc would. Then there's the fact that you can't attract professional, big name players to the club. I really don't think we'll be able to cope.
One thing I do know and which is brilliant with Crusaders supporters, is that we'll do anything we can to make Rugby League a success in Wales and if not in Wales, in Britain. We all love Rugby League now and I know if we lose Crusaders many will try and introduce new Welsh sides, travel to watch the Scorpions or even to Warrington, Wigan, Saints etc. I for one will follow and support Crusaders no matter where they're playing next season, but sadly I think this is the end.

Well said.
You have been badly let down and its not the fault of the players, coach or fans.
As you say, surely the directors knew some long time ago that sums didn't work. Makes you wonder about motives and competancy.
I believe you were OK for SL and your finish last year proved that. I think SL should have been expanded to include you and the cats.

Well you don't say!! Wigan or Fev? Tough one isn't it!
You had some big named players in NL2 - Josh Hannay, state of origin player, is just one example of this.
You couldn't cope in the Championship? It would be a disgrace if you couldn't!

I'm thoroughly sorry that this has happened to the Cru, whose loyal band of supporters were great to mix with, creating a fabulous atmosphere at Wrexham. Incompetent management is what has cost the club and how people from Wakefield can even begin to gloat, when they were in just the same position, beggars belief.'"
Where is the gloating in that post, you sir are a total ar*e. Jog off.

No kidding!!
Trust me, to the paying public, playing against Crusaders doesn't have the same attraction as playing Fax, or Batley or Leigh, or Dewsbury, or Hunslet, or York etc etc etc!
No disrespect intended!!!!!!

| Wrexham Fc on stike and refusing to play. The end of Sport in Wrexham is neigh.
The owners are full of rubbish. Super League even Championship rugby could/should work in Wrexham.
Its all about selling the ground to the highest bidder.

Maybe so, but the way the RFL reported it that is not how it comes across.
Perhaps that was to save face for one party or another I don't know.
All I know is the right decision has happened and that would appear to come from the actions if the Cusaders club.
I hope you can carry on, as ever supporters are the ones who suffer the most (we know that more than most) and you have my sympathy.

I don't think dignity is high on the RFLs list of character traits, so until o
I know otherwise, crusaders called time on this.
