| Quote: Starbug "Not a martyr at all , not totally against the Franchise/Licence system either as long as the competition and clubs that we are left with are shown some respect in their own right
ie , decisions made for the benifit of those clubs and the competition rather than thin veiled gimmicks with long term aims of SL
Basically cut the bull and say how it is , then we all know where we stand and can move on
Not too much to ask really'"
fair enough response.
to be fair to the rfl i genuinely think they want to see a flourishing championship, a strategy that makes perfect sense and is more then possible. i get sky sports next month and i look forward to seeing the thursday night game, i really enjoyed being in the national leagues, i miss it in some ways and not just cuz we won all the time.

| Quote: jannerboyuk " those people who would turn up for widnes in the superleague are already league fans, we bring new people. of course in the long run you risk losing those widnes fans but thats the balance and gamble that the rfl have to take.
.'"
But it's the NL club and it's fans that are being used as the stake in the rfl's gamble - not the crusaders!
Quote: jannerboyuk "what should have been done is interesting but moot, i think people concerned about the future health of the code should get behind us, forget the politics.
'"
So fans across the NL are being asked to "get behind the crusaders, forget that your club has been dumped on"???????
errrrrrrrrrrrr, no!!
Quote: jannerboyuk "
whats worrying to me is the vitriol from some people directed towards a fledgling club barely hidden by a paperthin "i dont want any club to fail but' bolstered by a significant number of people actively hoping for our death. '"
I can see how some fans may identify the celtic club as the focul point for their angst, as that club has been the beneficiary of the direction the game is being taken in.
I think it is important to identify that my wholehearted disatisfaction is levelled at the RFL. I don't give a toss about the crusaders as a club. If they fail they fail. If they succeed they succeed. C'est la vie. My constant ramblings are unlikely to change matters but I'll never stop asking the questions I believe deserve an answer!

44629.jpg Does not play well with others.... Sorry:44629.jpg |

| Did Catalans and Quins get the same amount of bitching as we're getting now?
If not, why have a go at US for getting LESS preferential treatment? (I don't remember Cats and Quins fighting up from NL2)
And if so, then why complain when the RFL want to extend the game beyond a 20 mile strip either side of the M62?
Either you WANT to expand your game, or you want to keep it a bizarre local quirk like cheese rolling, bog snorkelling and pushing donkeys from belltowers.
Choose which.

Can't remember the situation with London, a) because I seem to remember them gaining auto promotion, b) because it didn't affect my club, c) They weren't protected from relegation. - the number of aussies were always a concern.

I was happy with our game regardless. However, I can see the benefits of a more National game. Just NOT how it's been done and definately not how it's going!

| I noticed Rotherham Fev fan didn't post when we had 5,000 and 6,000 plus earlier on in the season and were giving teams like Saints a run for his money.
Can you tell me why you're on the site of a Super League club again?
I wouldn't dream of coming onto the Featherstone site and posting on a thread about attendances when you have three years stuck at that level and your only a third into this season. Why would I, you're in a different league and have the best part of two and a haklf years still to go.
If you came back in two years or so then that would be fair enough but coming on here now whinging is a bit silly don't you think?

Because if you had 5-6k going through the gate each week there wouldn't be a need to ask the questions!!

Visit //www.geofflee.net for details of my novels 'One Winter', 'One Spring', 'One Summer' 'One Autumn' 'Two Seasons'. and "Three Good Years" All six feature Rugby League against a humourous Lancashire/Yorkshire background and are inspired by the old saying about work: "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller.": |

| Whether folk like it or not, Celtic Crusaders are in Super League for another two and a half seasons. So for that time it would be more helpful for all concerned if posters here were to spend time putting forward suggestions and ideas that might help them develop their club and the game generally in South Wales.
After that it would be more appropriate to criticize them for what they might have done wrong while continuing to applaud them for what they have done right.

| Glee.
My club are doing quite well given that ambitions to play in SL next season have now been removed by the rfl and that their future will be decided by men in suits rather than on the field at 3 yearly intervals!
As for developing the game in S Wales?? I don't have a problem with that either. Never have had.
The franchising system, the abolition of P+R. The favourable quota dispensation given towards the club - I do have a problem with and as such have developed absolute indiference to the club.

On thread drift:
Tough. Conversations develop. It's their nature.[/quote:24qn1m99]
Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
[i:24qn1m99]There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back![/i:24qn1m99]

I have every sympathy with you, RFF. But the decision has been made, for better or worse, to introduce the licence system. For whatever reason, the RFL saw fit to hand out one of those precious licences to the CC.
Constantly coming on this board and demanding that the Celtic fan's justify their inclusion will not help Fetherstone Rovers. These people are fan's of this club and are obviously very happy at being in SL. They are not responsible for the situation and can do nothing about it. So it is a totally pointless exercise.
I had my say on the subject before the announcements last July, and then immediately after. I see little to be gained by carrying it on and now wish Celtic Crusaders and their fans luck. I hope it works down there.
I also hope the RFL ditch the licence system, reintroduces P&R and we see Fev in SL one day soon. I really wish the RFL were honest with us all and just come out and told us what they were upto instead of insulting our intelligence with the ridiculous charade that was the licence system. But these thoughts have had no relevance on these boards since last July and cannot change what happened.
I would suggest that e-mailing the RFL would be a better way of getting these issues off your chest, not that that would do any good either, but at least they are the ones responsible and the ones who should be answering the question raised in this thread.

| Your problem is your cr@ppy aussies. Not a patch on Wig@n's or Stains or Warrington or Dull or DullKR or Catalans etc. You need better aussies let's face it. Soon as you do the sky's the limit.

Good post, and very relevant. However, if the NL clubs have been passed over for a new club, and the performances on and off the field of that new club aren't being delivered, surely fans, club officials have the right to ask the question??
When GanEden so ineloquently put his lead post to this thread and asked "where has all the hype gone", it gave me a notion to enquire whether his question was valid, which I believe it is.
Who better to explain than fans of that club. The RFL (who are the one I level my anger at) certainly won't other than to trot out the same old PR. I know, I'm a pain in the @rse with them as well!!!
