this is not a criticism of crusaders, as all clubs do it, but we are heading backwards at international level, PNG will be beating us soon.
the criticism i do have of crusaders is that there is probably too much of a reliance on overseas, ageing and non welsh players in your team, that seems to go against the grain of developing the welsh national side.
half d foreigners do nothing for the clubs they come to, perhaps that is one reason that your gates are very poor.'"
You can't mention age, we have age discrimination laws here in Wales too.
Hopefully Hep will turn out to be a useful addition to the team.
You seem to have forgotten all about Jason Demetriou who was loyal and hard working servant to Wakefield. If you had your way he would never have got to pull on a Wakefield shirt. Have you forgotten the try he scored to keep Wakefield from being relegated.

| But surely you take my point, players like this are stifling our game.
The whole point of the crusaders is to develop the game in Wales and the brig through welsh players to SL and international standard.
Take the game against salford, average age 29, a string of players not eligible for any home nation and several players over 30 offering no future to any international team.
Is it any wonder we can't compete with Aus, NZ even the maoris are now a struggle and PNG look like a rapidly improving outfit.
This is not just a Crusaders issue, all clubs are guilty and as you say by my argument there would be no room for players like JD.
For my money he went on a year too long, but he was club captain and had previously been far from average, so the comparison is not really very accurate.

But he paid his own way over and wasn't a star in the NRL. Once Clinton and Thomas leave the average age will drop sharpely
I would love us to have as many home grown players as Hull or Leeds but these things take time.

no reason to have such a player then.

Nice to see such loyalty being extended to JD who's try saved you from being relegated by your nearest rivals Castleford.

JD who by your reckoning wasn't good enough, and should never have been allowed to play in super league because he didn't regularly play in a NRL first team and never played representive football for Australia at senior level, some how managed to score the try that prevented wakefield from being relegated from super league.

| Also, didn't Obst pay his own way here and take up the gig with Whitehaven before Wakey signed him?

| Apparently Hep Cahill had a blinder today. His situation when he got his work permit is no different to many other players over the years, why single him out?

Give them a chance on gates, they have only been in N.Wales for one full season, and that is far too short a time to bring new Welsh lads through.

Someone else mentioned JD not me, however if the rule was enforced I have to concede players such as JD and as someone else posted Sam Obst would not be earning their corn here.
They would be clogging up their domestic competitions and our would be allowing promising British talent blossom.
Perhaps then we may have a chance of making ground on the antipodeans??
Back on my alleged rant, as far as I can see ( and this is my honest opinion) Crusaders offer nothing to super league in any sense other than the development of the Welsh national team, and if they are wasting time and money on overseas and overaged players, then they are not serving their purpose, just my opinion.
